Default Is this gas still good!

Hi i have about a half of gallon of Nitro 20% TRX fuel and its been on my shelp in my room for about 4 months. is it still good? is there a way to test it?
and is dumping a little bit on a board and dropping a match on it a good way to test it? then put it out right away! i just have this fuel and i really want to use it if i can. i mean is there a possiblilty its still good?

One of the biggest enemies that I've seen to fuel is Sunlight. Why it doesn't come in dcark/tinted containers I don't understand.... unless it's a marketing strategy to make you have to buy more.

Keep it from about 65-75degF and int he dark sealed up and it will last much longer than you would expect.

Also, NEVER put unused fuel BACK into the gallon, even if it's just been in a hand bottle.

because it cant be exposed to air are it will lose some of its alclohal level and if you dump some contaminated gas into a container with uncontaminated gas, dude your screwed!

AS it is moved and exposed to the atmosphere, it takes moisture from the air and the nitro evaporates fastest...

I read an article a while back (unfortunately I don't remeber the chemical process or I would detail it) that explained how this fuel being added back would cause premature decomposition of the whole mix...

not to start a argument or anything, but the whole container is exposed to air whenever you open it. the fuel is always exposed to air. if you have a cap on your hand bottle, it shouldent matter.

true. if you really care and can sense the difference with your fuel and power, than do not expose it to the air, becasue it will cause the nitro to evaporate faster. that is why they say to shack or swrill your fuel before you open it, so you get the nitro that is on the top of the contianer back into the fuel mix. i have never noticed the diferece with my fuel. i guess it is just a matter of preferense.

when putting the nitro back into the contaner is when it would evaperate like he said. theres a lot more of the fuel touching the air when being pored back inot the jug than there is just sitting there. but im sure it will be fine its only in the air for like 2 seconds.

well if you stick the end of the bottle into the nitro(in the jug) while pouring it back, than that elimates that problem. so you dont get much evaporation.

i heard the biggest problem is gas being stored in areas were the tempurature changes up and down a lot through out the day so could you store gas in a refrigerator so it stays the same temp. all the time

if you store gas in a heated garage or inside the house, it is close to the same temp most all the time. i woudl not store toxic fuel in something that you use for food.

it should matter about 2 or 3 seconds of air as long as it is sealed up tight and stored

if fuel works, good. if it doesnt, dump it out of the tank into something and get rid of it
