Hey all its been awhile since i ave posted here. Well i would like to get a new starterbox as the case on mine is begning to fall apart after a few heavy seasons of bashing and racing. I have used a gel-cell in them ever since i bought one. Well i asked integy about it and they reccomend two 7.2 volt stick packs in there instead of one gel-cell. What do you all use and think is great? I like the fact that the gel-cell lasts so long on a charge (4 weeks of driving) and is sealed. The guy at integy also said that the two stick packs provide better cranking power? I have no idea but i think i would probably need to buy a new charger then for them some like a (superbrain?) which i dont wanna spend the money on and get 4 or so good quality stick packs? well i'll quit rambling now! I myself use the 12V battery. My starter can also use 2 stick pack. The stick packs will have a higher voltage for cranking power. I have not try it so I can't give you a true statement. I don't think the 2 stick pack charge will last as long as the 12V battery.

If your not have problems with the 12V battery you can stick with it. Some of the higher end engines will need the higher cranking power.

There are different motors in the starter box for different size boxes for 1/10 or 1/8 scale.

Charging the two stick pack can be done with any compatibility charger. Each pack is only 7.2V for a 6 cell pack.

I may try it some day since it will be more portable. But since I carry a field box which has the 12V battery in it, why bother will it.

This is true. I dont run a high end engine since the track im running on doesnt require speed but more handling (cause its indoors and tight O.S. .12 Cv-R) i had a RB concept but i ended up selling it due to the fact i couldnt get the engine to really get going and it would want to foul the glow plugs. So i switched to a lower hp mill and cant be happier. rebuilds cheaper and parts are much more available and its less than 1/2 the price on a R B. My gel cell 12 volt awakened my engine with ease also. I am looking at getting a ofna 1/8 version for the GT. I was running a dual 550 before and it work well for me.

i'd stick with the 12v battery. Its heavier to lug about, but it lasts a long time. I have the Ofna 1/10 scale universal box, the one with the LCD panel and glow plug ignitor. It can turn over a .12 Novarossi easily.

my associater box has enough space to zip tie a gel-cell into it.

do you all use the OFNA or other brand power panels for the box? Im thinking about getting one...........they look pretty nice![8D]

I have a Associated Starter box for my FT NTC3.
This box has a 775 motor. Fits 1/10th and 1/8th scale on-or off-road vehicles with inline or transverse mounted engines. Flywheel can be turned and reinstalled at a 90 degree angle. Adjustable posts and flywheel position allows starter box to be used with different brands of vehicles.

I also have Sullivan hand held Starters for an old 1/8th scale buggy.

well iim picking up a nice used OFNA 1/10 scale starter box up maybe. Its 40 dollars shipped and it good shape. Only thing it needs is a new gel cell. Its a twin 550 setup but i don have a ultra power mill anymore (O.S. .12 CV-R) so i think twin 550's would work fine. What do you all think? My last box was a large 750 single.
