I've been flying planes for the past five years. I've had no experience whatsoever with cars/trucks. I know how to start one, tune it and such, but I don't know much more than that. We've recently got a new hobby shop, and the owner has stated that he plans on putting in a couple of tracks. I think there will be a couple of dirt tracks and maybe one hard track. A few of my flying buddies and I have been discussing buying some cars/buggies/trucks/etc... We would like to get something that could be ran/raced on pavement and dirt. Until the dirt tracks get put in, we'll have to run on asphalt, unless we make our own track somewhere, which probably won't happen. Anyway, there's several parking lots in this area that we could go to at night and race. But, we want to buy something that can be raced on dirt also, once the dirt tracks are put in.
What would be the best all around dirt/asphalt vehicle? I've looked at the Traxxas Nitro Rustler and the HPI Evo. This is what I was thinking would be a good all around racer. We're not wanting to go overboard with hop-ups and such, just some stock vehicles that run great right out of the box.
What do ya think?

if u wnat to race then get the RC10GT its light, semi-durable but has extremely good handling. if u wanan bash then get a nitro rusty which i have. A stock rusty can push nearly 50.

We all want to sorta get the same vehicle, just to keep things as competitive as possible. We'll be racing, but only against each other, nothing all that organized. I don't know the R/C car lingo, so you might call what we're planning to do "bashing". I'm uner the impression that the Rusty is faster than the RC10, so that's what we're wanting more than anything, SPEED. I know that handling is important, but maybe we could do some minor mods to the frame/suspension to get the handling a little better.
Anyway, I hope that explains things a little better.
Any other info would be appreciated.

if you buy the rc10gt its a really easy truck to work on, its easier to work on the rc10gt then the rusty( rusty mean nitro rustler), i own a rusty buts its a pain in the ***** to work on somtimes, if you put a better engine in the rc10gt it can go faster then a stock rusty, and the stock rusty wont pull nearly 50 stock, you have to change the clutch bell for it to go 50 or over, traxxas says its 47mph stock

Dude, my podnuh got a new Rusty today. That thing will haul much ass, more than a cattle trailer full of mules! It'll ride a wheelie as far as you want it to. I'm gonna order mine this next week. The RC10 just looks a little too gay for my taste. Gonna trick mine out a little as I go. Gotta get some bling bling! Some anno blue here, some nat aluminum there, you know, bling freakin' bling. Get some rally meat for the four corners (for the pave) and some loco knobs for the terra firma! A new transmitter with expo will come soon. Ole Rusty's mighty twitchy on the wheel!
I done forgot who said the Rusty aint made for racing. Their momma must be a cashew, cause they straight up nutz! I know there's probably faster rods out there, but this is one mean little dude, especially coming straight outta the box!
