?? Are you serious?

There are all types of engines from sport to race and the number denotes the physical displacement created by a stroke. The only people that I know of the make a .16 are Megatech, which is supposed to make a little over 1hp. The Collari 5-port .12 made over 1.65 HP on the dyno... it would spank that 16. The difference in price is kinda wide, but I chose that to prove a point.

Yes an .18 will fit, a .21 will not. These engines aren't even the same physical size. The .21 is a big-block.

for your first truck(nitro) any engine will be too much. Spend a gallon or two with the stock engine and then think about upgrading. Upgrading this soon means upgrading other parts like your arms, wheels, turnbuckles and things of sort cause you will be even more all over the place!

why would you waste your money on a duratrax maximum mt. it is so out dated. any monster truck today would crush that thing

heh, oh yeah (wasn't think about an RTR engine)...

The people that I have heard from that have that truck say it's a pretty good RTR engine. OS makes a drop-in 18 CV-rx that has been reduced to 99 bucks on Tower Hobbies for quite some time now. Get a good clutch and that'll make your truck fly when you are ready (after ya learn how to drive ).

Do a lot of research before you buy a truck. not only get opinions, but mostly facts. That will help you make your own opinion which is important because everyone is different and wants different things. Although if you get the majorities opinion on whats the best truck for your needs, they will basicly be right. If you ask me, I would say monster trucks are the way to go. You can just do so much more with them than a stadium truck or onroad car. I would reccomend the XTM Mammoth or the Traxxas Revo. Ive also heard of other good MTs but those are the two I would like to get.
