Hi my name is Jesse. HELP!!!!!!
I have just pulled my MT2 out of winter storage and prepared for a run. Didn't happen. I'm not sure about whats going on but the truck doesn't want to go. It starts fine but when I pull the throttle it just revs up very high and moves like a snail. If I hold the truck off of the ground, of of it's tires, it will move quickly. As soon as I set it back on the ground, it will rev up very high and move very very slowly. I have attempted to adjust the slipper clutch but that remedy has failed. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Could be a number of things. Pull the engine, check the spur - make sure there are no teeth missing, check the clutch. Next hold the front wheels and push the vehicle backwards on the ground - if the back wheels turn, blown diff in the rear or front. Hold the spur and try the rear or the front to see which is blown. If both are OK, but the dogbones turn free to both the front and rear - the center shaft on the spur is sheared. If you keep trying to tighten the slipper, but it just turns and turns - this confirms the sheared shaft.
If all this stuff is good - I don't know - you've got an enigma on your hands.

Same exact thing happened to me this weekend. You need to find out what it slipping. In my case, it was a stripped front AND rear differential. When I opened up the casing, it was full of metal shavings.
I'm going to get in touch with HPI today about a replacement. Will let you know what I find out.
edit: I called them up and the folks on the other end were very helpful. They took my name, phone number and address and said they'd send out a replacement part. Unfortunatly, I was so surprised that I didn't have to mail out my stripped gears that I forgot to mention that I needed two. Still, very nice of them. Here's hoping I get a few more tanks out of these newer diffs.

You should get these gears instead of the factory replacement ones. I have went through 3 sets of gears. They come with every thing that you need excep the grease. These are the ones that come with the MT 2 SS kit.

Thanks to all your help. I will tear the truck down again and look. I hope to find a resolution so that I can get out there and tear up the yard.
