The stage 2 one... it increases compression and cooling, while the golden horizon one just offers better cooling but i believe does nothing to help compression.

yup 2 is better cuse what yoster said im going to get one soon
GH has more cooling fins but stage2 has more surface area cuse fins go in more tords glow plug here is the link if you dont allredy have it

i have the stage II head. i love the look, and it does run cooler. as far as performance, its hard to tell cuz i changed other thing at the same time, like wheel size and things like that. but i'm sure a few minute details will equal something to be noticed.

if the head indeed increases the compression, the only way it could do it would be to decrease the head clearance, because the head cannot effect the seal between the piston and sleeve (blowby).... if you decrease your head clearance, then you run the risk of detonation ....
unless your engine is running in the 400s with a rich tune, i would keep the stock head... aftermarket heads are only for bling factor otherwise...

i mean GH isnt a bad head but stage 2 is i think half the price and it hase more compressions ill get pic and show you why there is more cooling VS stock
ok as you can see GH has a taller fin set witch can be good and bad less clerence you would have to cut a hole in top of bod to get clearince more fins = more surface area more coling but if you live in cold place you want less fins so heat can stay in cuse ABC's need a strict running temp
now the stage 2 has maby 1 2 fins not that much of a problim
has more compression= more HP
and it has more surface area but if you live in cold still not a good thing cuse of a bove
yes there are things you can do like cut 2 3 fins and call it your winter head and have a GH as a summer head
or get some insulating to help keep it wormer
o ya the red on the stage 2 head(blue) shows how much of a gane than stock
GH has more fins but same surface ariea at top as the stock one hope that helps
ps there same $$$$ sory

i thought that the golden horizons head looked like it was better quality so i went with that one. I don't drive with a body anyway so clearance isn't a problem.

get a body, it protects the innards of your truck.

So your saying that if I put a Stage 2 head on my DTX .18 engine, that i could damage it?

Don't make the same mistake I did and buy an expensive cooling head, just to find out that you engine runs too cool with it. I can't run my expensive aftermarket head, so now all it's good for is pictures...
If your engine runs at a good temp with the stock head, don't replace it. An aftermarket cooling head should not be used as a solution to running a bad tune.
The only good reason to swap the cooling head is if you are running in very hot weather. This, most of the time still isn't necessary.
In the end it comes down to your decision. I cannot force you to run the stock head, I can only advise you.

You think Towerhobbies really cares if you run your engine too cold? not as long as they get some money out of it.

I'd have to agree with that
Duratrax has been making decent aftermarket stuff for a lotta cars for a lotta years.
I've got their brake disk and steel brake hex on my GT

ya well thats part of the hobby the way you want it to look cool and the way u want it cuse the stock one looks ugly but stage 2 looks nice and the GH but uts what u want GH looks to takk for the bods i have and i like lo profile but good heat sink so to anser ur??? get what ever the STAGE2 looks better to me and will make it cool a little better but what i said if you live in a cold place dont get them like if you run in snow u want a heat sink cover to keep heat in so you motor can keep in its 230-250 heat range but if its hot you want one of these so you can run in highter temps cuse in summer time if it get up past 87 and up it gets iffy cuse it can over heat eazer but u will learn for u get a temp gun so u can keep it in the zone
