Default RE: -Official Traxxas JATO Thread-

Hey i just got a quick question. Before when i was running the stock wheels with the jato, i could do donuts and make basically keep going in circles even when jamming on the throttle. A while after, my gearbox got chipped due to a hard landing and i had to move the turnbuckle in closer so the wheel is a bit slanted. I could still however do donuts. After a while my wheels got worn so i changed to dirt hawgs. Now the problem i am having is that i cannot do donuts anymore, or go in circles very fast because it looks like the wheel is loosing grip or something. Im not sure. Could this be due to the slanted wheel? I ordered a new gear box half not to long ago.

what is your budget... that always makes difference... For me I just use a basic mid level Futaba servo.

yeah that would be good for steering. any basic servo will do the job for the t/b.

not sure on the OS. I have not put one in my Jato. I run a 3.3 in my basher (I am very happy with it) and for my racer I run a RB V.12

I have a set from rc screwz. use them as my back ups...
[link=http://www.rcscrewz.com/]http://www.rcscrewz.com/[/link]

to get stripped screws out... I use my dremel and make a small cut in the screw. That way I can use a flat head and get it out.

is it still all the way in? if it is out part of the way you can use some pliers and screw it out. if it is all the way in... we'll good luck. see if any of your friends have a dremel.

I use a drill and a torx head bit . You drill into the head of the screw and then tap the torx bit into the hole , then use a pair of pliers too gently turn the screw out .

A dremel works perfect, but a hack saw blade will also work if you have enough room near the screw to use it. You could also get a small easy out in any hardware store.

I'm thinking about Picking one of these trucks up, and I am still some what new to this class... I have heard that this truck is not race legal, What makes it Illegal? Also is there a place where I can see standard rules for racing?
Thanks

the jato is not legal for ROAR or RC Pro or just about any other racing with rules due to the motor and the two speed and the rims/tires. You will need to put in the single speed, a .12 motor and switch to 2.2 size rims/tires. There are no good 2.8 tires really out for racing anyway...

Here is a link to the RC Pro rules. Just scroll down to 1/10 FUEL 2WD OFF-ROAD TRUCK SPECS:
[link=http://nitrooffroad.rcprosites.com/site/op/content/contentid/236]http://nitrooffroad.rcprosites.com/site/op/content/contentid/236[/link]

I will be running in the RC Pro Texas State Series and some of the Sout Division. Feel free to hit me up with any questions. I would be glad to help.

If you go back a page or three or so... you will find pics of my jatos.

also the jato is a basher out of the box. so you will need to do some suspension tuning and such. but once the time has been put in it is a great truck!
