Yes, I recomend the Jato to everyone but its not for you. You need something strong and slow The new duratrax warhead looks promising and the stress tech warranty is what you NEED!!

Yah dude no offense, but it's probably just the way you drive and how good of a driver you are. Most broken parts result in bad driving and jumping skills.

Get a MT if your going to sell your jato. ST's just aren't for you

May I ask what is breaking? Is it the rear A arms like I have heard about? I would be happy to run a Jato with my Savage as where I run is so rough speed will not help. The Jato will spend more time being stuck and my Savage will still be kicking.

more importantly, how. My jato has been through a lot, I do not see why yours keeps breaking unless your just just landing jumps the wrong way.

Yea, get a savage. May not be as fast, but why would a MT be fast? it needs torque...

Plus if u get the savage kit you can not be bored because u need to build it.

I have been hearing more and more about the weak shock tower and A arms not only on this form but others. I thought with the Revo Traxxas had improved but it looks like the same old thing. I am sure I will hear about my opinion but the proof is in the pudding. I know the Savage is not the fast thing out there but it is the most durable basher on the market. I do not run off road because I am looking for top speed. Once again this is my opinion.

I would think 50WT oil is quite heavy. In all my trucks including the Savage, Rush and MT1 racer I run 30WT.

From what I have seen most people on off road vehicles run either 30 or 35WT oil. What do others have to say about shock oil weight? [8D]

That is one of the things that has all ways been a problem with Traxxas is you have to up grade to parts that where poorly made to begin with as well as they do not make kits. I do not know how may post I have read that talk about poor radios that come in them. There is nothing more I would like to see Traxxas make a good product! But I feel that what they do is try to make a product that they know will have many calls for needing replacement parts.

Yes they all break but some a whole lot more then others! It is for sure that HPI has gotten the Savage to a high standard as far as durability goes. No it is not the fast and even HPI says that the Savage was built for durability and jumping but not made for top speed.

I am not trying to start a flaming war I just call it like I see it and this is my opinion.

I have heard and do not know from fact that the Revo is the most durable Traxxas. I have all so heard that the T-Max was not near as durable with out making many up grades. They both are much better racers then the Savage once again from what I have heard and read. Just making conversation.

Being I only bash by my self I can only go by what others say so what is others opinion?

All Nitro's get boring after awhile...get yourself a REAL MAN's rc and go gaser

I own revo,t-maxx and savage and a jato...jato's fast but no fun unless ya run it in parking lots, the t-maxx breaks alot...tmaxx's are weak...revo's tough but i've bent 2 frames on it jumping it...the savage takes a beating i've broken nothing on it yet...it's not fast like the revo but it's tough...i'll trade ya savage and tmaxx for a gaser

Not at all all rc's break if they get impacted right or someone add's aluminum and transfers stress to places not designed to take it...revo's aren't built for jumping high...10-12 foot jumps have bent a frame on me with a revo when nosing it....was more driver error than the trucks fault...however i can nose the savage and not break anything but then again it's traveling slower and is also 1/8 scale while revo is 1/10th that makes a difference in comparing them not as much mass and thinner parts...the tmaxx is weak yes it's always breaking even when babying it things break....bulkheads..control arms..shocks bend and break...it also has heavy tires for it's weak suspension system they built it with....jato's fast and thats about it...it's tough for a stadium truck but then it's too powerful when stock to even control in dirt at wot...so it's useless unless you enjoy doing doughnuts. Maybe traxxas uses sub-standard parts when building their rc's who knows I just know I've replaced alotta tmaxx parts..bent 2 frames on the revo and broke the stock wheels which are junk and thats it...I've added beef-up plates to my last frame and haven't bent it yet..only yhing I broke on the jato has been a steering arm and that was from nailing a cinderblock lol..it's now however a street runner since it's wacko in dirt...but as far as traxxas goes in nitro the revo in my opinion is the best of them...the gaser..monster buggy is toughest out of all of them all and can also run them all over with ease...but then again fg's are better gasers too

ThunderbirdJunkie:

I have seen a Savage 4.6 - it is a brute - Sounds like a d**n weedeater with that big motor in it, and they move. I know - everyone complains,"Where is the 3 speed?" You can buy one if you need it, but they seem to go pretty good with 2 speeds. The track I run at is mostly a LST and Revo track, but one guy has his savage - almost bone stock with the 4.6 and if he could drive better he beat them every time in Regular Monster Truck Class. The only Downside I have seen is that the engine is alittle thirsty, but to be expected.

I agree - Get a Savage or LST.

I saw one SS 4.6 run...it was a POS (because of the way the guy built it...i have a higher torque steering servo in my XXXNT than he has in his Savage, plus all the stripped out screws) but it went like a raped goat.

"and go for huge, 6-9ft jumps."

That is exactly why. ST's are not meant to go that high. Show me a stock ST that can handle abuse like that.

If you want the best jumping and turning capabilities go with the Tamiya TNX or Traxxas Revo.
