Default 2wd vs 4wd

I'm new to rc and want to get a nitro truck. I was thinking of the Jato or the Losi xxx-nt or the Tamiya TNX pro or the Losi LST. I'll be mostly backyard bashing so I want something durable and I'm sure as I get into the hobby more I'll want to hop it up. So what are the advantages / disadvantages to 2wd and 4wd?

How about the Revo. You won't be dissapointed.

My recommendation is to peer around to see what bashing videos you can find. After seeing some general action of Stadium Trucks vs. Monster Trucks, that'll help you narrow you choices down by half.

the terrain is hilly and some what rocky. After looking at some vids I would ahve to say I'm going 4wd. Now the question is LST or TNX pro. I've thought about the Revo but I know 2 people who have them and I want to beat them not join them

well the lst comes with incredible radio system, incredible engine.

the tnx is a good basher and racer, but if you are going to buy a tnx, go with the pro.

if i would be in your position i would get the lst, it maybe expensive, but its worth it

I don't know of any tracks in my area but if I were to find one how do you feel the LST would be with some racing tires?

That thing has far too many drivetrain issues. A couple guys had them at the local track for awhile and the diffs were always breakin. The chasis also flexes and they were going through spur gears like crazy... tho MAN could they dominate in the long swooping turns where us 2wd guys would have to slow down.

For all-out everyday fun, i say go with a 4x4 monster truck... like the CEN MT2, XTM Mammoth, Revo, AE's monster truck... they're all pretty good

now thats bullcrap ofcourse 4wds can do burnouts, just put your foot infront of it and deck the throttle, and if you car 4wds cant wheel that crap as well, schumacher menace will wheelie quite easily when the tuning is correct and tyres are bedded in and up to temperature

I got the LST yesterday, going to break it in today. Do I need to oil the air filter? Also my lhs wasn't very clear on how to use after run oil. I think he wasn't happy I didn't buy my LST from him.

when you use the after run oil just take out the glow plug and put a few drops in then pull the recoil a few times to work it in. if you want you can put some in the carb and open and close it a few times but it isnt nessesary. oil in the air filter is just so the dust and stuff doesnt get into your engine because it gets stuck in the oil. if its dusty then i would put some oil on but other wise it isn nessesary.

Personally I would never run a foam filter without oil. I learned my lesson by making that mistake on my old suzuki 2 stroke, I imagine it is way worse on an RC nitro engine that on an old 70's suzuki 2 stroke. Without oil in it, dirt can just flow right through open cell foam.
