New Engine
How's this for a engine
This isn't mine but thought ya's would like to see it..supposedly does around 125MPH and has never been ramped all the way up yet...Just wondering whose nitro can beat it
Maybe a Turbine powered Jato in the works...be cool and sure as hell unbeatable

RE: New Engine
Uh... Wow! [X(] That's pretty awesome.
By the way, has someone beaten that record of 111 mph by that 24 cell (electric) car (I think it's a heavily modified TC3)? I heard that a while ago, but I'm not sure if that still holds the record. If that goes 125, then I'd say it does beat it.

RE: New Engine
Just imagine if the placed the turbine someplace where it could get some air??
Is it me or does it seem like airflow might be a problem in that picture?
Anty

Someone has beat the 111mph car i forget the exact speed he did though. Anyway that truck doesn't count for the record do to the fact that the turbine doesn't actually drive a transmission.

LOL....since when is a transmission required? btw the turbine has yet to be spooled up all the way he ran 125mph's passes at approximatly 1/3rd throttle, and the 111mph run isn't offical...but neither is the turbines...
Cliff Lett’s record-breaking 111mph run still has to be verified, and the existing 59.5mph record still stands.
So like that article say's anyone with a 3.5cc nitro can have the world record.

RE: New Engine
Hi
I guess you guy's may not remember but back in the 80's RC Car action had a article about a 1/10th scale rocket powered RC Dragster called "The Alien" it was all black with a picture of Alf on it. If I remember right the article said its top speed was around 250 to 300 MPH. It ran off of 3 "D" class rocket engines.

RE: New Engine
3 D engines?
I have a hard time believing that. I'm not saying that it is not true, but I have a 3 pound rocket (Loc EZI-65) that needs at least a G class engine to even get it off the pad. I usually run it on a H or I engine. Now if you were to tell me that they used a J-180, I might believe it. But not D's... not enough thrust.

RE: New Engine
The 111 mph run was confirmed and has been beat now by a car that did 127. And the rocket car would be in a different class than cars with a tranny.

RE: New Engine
I would think that the way it's setup would actually hinder it's performance. All the jets I have seen, RC and scale, have huge open scoops in front the turbines. Not a wall.
just saying....
just saying....

RE: New Engine
Think you gotta consider it's a 1/5th scale truck so thats probably about 8"-10" to the back of the cab on that thing....but yeah turbines need a alot of air it's what makes them perform...maybe it's starved but I doubt it I've seen some rc ejts with real small and restrictive intakes that flew great...also saw a turbine rc car which the turbine was driving a sort of fan motor to spool up the transmission so he had a actual drivetrain under it...looked impressive but not practical...just alotta cash wasted for a turbine on a rc car...be more fun with like a os ft-300 twin 4 stroker on a savage for that neat sound and some hella torque
