RE: anyone run the diablo .12
I got the Peak’s Diablo .12 rear exhaust with rotary carburetor last year for my Losi NT. I started using it when racing season started of this year and been happy with it. The Diablo have great useable power and very easy to tune. You set it once and I don’t have to fiddle with it trough out the whole day of racing. Highly recommend this engine!

I have heard that that engine is very good. If you really want a .12 I have heard that that is about the best. If I were to buy a .12 thats what I would go with. But I dont run .12 I run .18

at some tracks it is race legal.
but the 12 has a nice power band the 18 has alot of torque for bigger trucks and bashing same HP in most engines
HP = top speed
torque = off the line
get it?

Actually, HP is both RPM and torque. There is an equation to calculate HP based on those two factors, but I don't know it off hand. You can't use companies HP ratings when buying an engine though, they are all differen't. And, obviously, no .12 engine actually makes 1HP. It's just not possible. 12 engines are much better for racing. They have a much more usable power band. I have an SH .12 and a Fantom FR18. I only race with the .12, and only bash with the .18.

The collari .12 was dynoed at 1.6 horsepower so they can make 1 hp. Aslo you are correct about hp it is based on rpm's and torque. Basically rpms= speed and torque=acceleration.

That's the thing though, that dyno is wrong too. I think it's XRC that has the actual ACURATE dyno. They dynoed the SH .28 engine at around 1.28HP I think. And that rating is similar to the other .28 engines they dynoed. And SH claims 3.6HP out of the SH. I don't use company ratings anymore. My SH .12 engine is rated at 1.2HP. I once had a Fantom FR12 rated at 1.4HP. The SH .12 has more punch and top end than the FR12 ever had. And it's cheaper... and runs more reliable. That thing could idle for an hour if I wanted it to.
