Default Any trouble with your .18 cv-rx?

I got me a o.s. .18 cv-rx a while back to put on nitro mt... so far i have ripped up the diffs, but now every time i start o.s. .18 the motor makes like a really bad clacking noise?!?![:@], im runnin it and i notice when i grab the cooling head the noise will shut up[8D]. the motor dosent seem to be loose, nor the cooling head. i havent tweaked it all[:-]. no shims nuthin. what the crap is goin on?!?!. i think it may be a loose fly wheel but ive felt it and appears to be ok. i have no idea....

Well... Here's the life of my O.S. .18 CV-RX.

I got one for my T-Maxx. Upon getting home from my LHS, I open it up and admire the thing. I take the carburetor out to look at it and inspect it, and bam! There's a hole in the pipe that extends from the carburetor into the motor. The other part of the pipe is sitting in the bottom of the crankshaft.

It's in the mail right now back to O.S.

Clacking? hmmm that sounds bad. especially if you grab the cooling head and it stops. You might wanna check your piston clearance.

Ive checked that too, head clearence is good. Now that i have inspected it, I removed a shim just a sec ago nd still dosent hit. The motor is farily new, strait from the box. Shouldnt be doing that. Now that i started it up and ran it around in the yard it stopped!

-- starting up cold it clackes real bad.
--- after a little warm up the clack just stopped. Not a constant distant fade of clacking away it just stops clacking.
---- im pretty sure that when i grab the cooling head it is clacking so bad it rattles the cooling head.
----- it may be my pilot nut that holds down the fly wheel may be loose.
------ i was just wondering if any body else had the same problem or maybe a way to fix it

I have 2 os .18 cv-rx's and never had any problem with either one....a clank is not a good thing...try asking your question in the OS engine's support forum...Bill that runs it is really a good dude.

Wait when you buy the engine in the box, is it in pieces? do you have to put it together?

Welp thats what i would have done.. but i fugured it out, my fly wheel was completely chewed upm in side because the pilot shaft came loose[&o]. i noticed that it was harder to pull than normal before it started. well im just glad that there wasnt nothing wrong with the motor it self[8D]

sorry bout that, but yea it does come assembeld, and a big air filter and other little stuff. i got my o.s. .18 cv-rx for $92.00, of ebay new. plus im just gonna tell your ahead of time if you have a MT, that you are going to put it in, dont. its a big hassle. you gotta buy steel diffs, 30 bucks a pop. and much more.

In the description on tower hobbies it said that the engine is good for an evader.
