.12 tz isnt really just a "on road" engine. They have short shaft versions for a reason... RC10GT drop ins.
the NTC3 uses a short shaft as well, and so can ofna's cars

i don't know about that, i never gave mine the chance. You see, i melted it in half before i got the cv-r. It's spurs that you will be eating
I don't understand why everyone keeps stripping them spur gears, I mean, I used to run a Picco .15 in my ST and that's not a sissy engine if u know what I mean and I NEVER stripped a spur gear ever...

Hmm, this can go back as far as the .12 tr mill, how people claimed "oh its only for touring cars". But, speakin of that engine , how come there weren't short shaft versions of the TR?

And as I have noticed... many people have that "on road racing engine" TR bolted on their off roaders.

Well then :P

All in all, the tz is still good offroad, you just have to gear differently to dial in your preferred style. Personally, if i still had that Ultima, i would have slapped this engine in. But since I am going to be full time 1/8 buggy racing next year, i wont be able to experience the tz myself

Take a peek at the piston/sleeves for the tz, last time i checked, it was about a 40... maybe 45 dollar rebuild.

as tight as the TR still is, i dont think i'm gonna be buyin a new engine any time soon, but the TZ IS tempting.

I'm also gonna run my .12SPD in the AD2 just outta morbid curiosity
