Really? Might be a good investment...

I have a highly modified .12 CV, this baby screams!! I calculated the max engine RPM's at 38,100 RPM.

I love this little motor...

The little nut just holds the drive hub on the shaft so it doesnt fall of the engine in the factory or when packed. It is not needed.

Yes, they are bringing down the price on the O.S. machined heads. Grab one before they go back up. They are usually $50-70.

Well at $19.99 it's looking abetter option than the O.S.
I don't doubt for a second the quality of the O.S....but am unsure about the duratrax...howabout you buy it, try it, tell me how it goes lol

Just wondering, you seem to have tried many more engines than me...how do you rate the CV overall?

Every O.S. I rebuild I use the Duratrax parts. They work great. More time is needed during break-in to do it right.

Really? That's great, is there any difference in power between the duratrax and O.S.? Different porting?

And every O.S.? How many different parts does duratrax make for O.S.?

jk, in general Duratrax's aftermarket parts aren't second-rate like some folks would have you believe.

I was plannin on goin ahead and givin the duratrax piston/sleeve a shot, since i've got nothin to lose.

the CV line is a great series of engines, and they're just flat out porting ho's they love being ground down, but you GOTTA know what you're doing.

TBJ, when you port your motors, what parts do you modify? I know "porting" usually refers to the cylinder ports....but what else do you do?

I honestly don't do much of anything MYSELF when porting...I have my dad do it (he's a two stroke madman), and only a couple of my engines are ported.

I have a buddy who builds MX engines, and I'm sending a couple motors his way fairly soon since they're gonna need new piston/sleeve sets.

I've found it pretty simple to modify these engines, the only thing I haven't tried yet is altering the size of the ports. Smoothing the ports, yes...but the size of the ports remains standard...I think enlarging ports is where the power can be unlocked.

Heres a link to some work I did on my O.S. .12 CV-X

http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_26...tm.htm#2697022

I've been running this baby on some 20% Nitro home brew, and the power is great! Max RPM is a smidgen over 38,000.

I agree that these CV's ARE porting HO's...

When my Hyper head arrives, i'll try some 35%N 15%O mix that I made....Can't wait!
