Are there any reviews or dyno test of the .12 tz?

I dont of one but the .12 tz is a very high running engine of the .12. The tz's made by O.S. ssem to be getting great reviews of rpm's and other aspects of engine.

that's two very positive reviews for it.. wow..

maybe, buy one and send it off to get blueprinted (saw an ad in the RC mag that reviewed the engine) and you'd have one monster race engine!!!

Is there a reason you want to go with a .12 like track rules or something? I am hoping to get the .18 TZ, which is the best most HP small block made. It has as much HP as a lot of big blocks. I have read several reviews where they rate the engine at like 1.9 HP but when put on a dyno they were actually putting out all most 2.3 HP. The all so said they are like most OS and hold a tune.

.12 engines get more R&D for an obvious reason. Almost all rulebooks and racing groups: ROAR, NORRCA... and more consider the .12 the only legal race engine. This is why everyone looks for a .12 that is reliable and dependable at the same time when it comes to ST racing, well any class of racing.

.12 is legal. anything bigger in the small blocks isnt. Unless you are running in a small race, then your track might allow it.

no you can't. I was just wondering because I'm getting a tz of some sort soon. I think that I'll be getting the .18 because I think that my car could handle it. My car is almost identical to amsterdam's except i have a 24 tooth clutch bell and a 56 tooth spur. All gears in my tranny are aluminum except the spur and I work at a hobby shop so getting new gears is a breeze.

the motor kicks @$$.. ive got one in mine RC10GT.. it will definitely out run any other .12. its worth the money if your a serious racer like me. i got mine here for $165. if you get it, get the Drake pipe or a O.S. 1020, i believe it is.. break in is kinda tricky, make sure all your glow igniters are fully charged and starter box is too.

.18 tz is way too much power for a ST, you'll find that out when you get the engine.

Know two people that have been running it in theres now for about 2 months. They like them a lot and they sure make theres fly. Might have to do with who is holding the TX?

It comes down to the tranny and handling. Its way too much torque for one thing, and being that much torque and power, a stock tranny is gonna have a hard time holding up to it. Diff rebuilds will be more common.

Like I said I know two people that have them in there’s and one of them has over two gallons throw his and the only thing he has broken so far is when he hit something. Still has the same differentials and drive train. Yes it took him some time to learn how to control the power. Maybe it has to do with what stadium truck you have it in, how you have it set up and like I said who is holding the TX.

Have you ever run one in a stadium truck? If so what truck? I have several trucks and I figure it would be neat to have one of them be a rocket. I might buy a new truck just for it.
Not trying to start a flaming war just making good discussion.

I know it will destroy a stock tranny but i have an aluminum one. I don't think that it will be able to kill those that easily.

If I do not get a HPI MT2 .18 SS to put it in I am going to put it in my HPI MT1 Racer that has been up graded just about to the SS standards. The spur, clutch bell and slipper are the same thing that comes in the Savage so I feel sure it will hold up. If you look at the SS it is MUCH beefier then the RTR MT.

I all so feel since the MT is heaver and 4 wheel drive it will be some what easer to deal with the power then a 2 wheel or I know it will as a stock 4 wheel handles better then a stock 2 wheel drive.

But it is 2 wheel drive correct? 4 wheel drive makes a big difference as I have both 2 and 4 wheel drive. My MT use to me mostly alloy but I had to many issues with alloy on it and other vehicles I have. Talking about this engine so much is going to make me get one now and put off bills till later.

I'm going to be getting one even if i need to change te EPA so the carb only opens half way.

I must have one. I get a discount for hobby stuff because i work there so the price really isn't an issue.
