Default os cv-x .15

Decided to go with an OS CV-X .15 in my RC10 GT. Seems like a good choice for bashing. Will this just drop in after I cut the shaft?

The mounting holes match up if thats what you mean by drop in. There could be other things like th carb. If it is a slide or rotary. You have to ask around

I'd change the head on the CV, tower hobbies are selling the hyper heads for a bargain price...

That is a good engine but for about the same money you can get an OS.18 CV-RX. The .15 has about .56HP and the .18 has 1.35HP. All so by the time you change the ugly head you will have more in the .15. Tower has the OS .18 CV-RX for around $100. Matter of fact so far I have found that all OS engines I have run are very good engines. Reliable, easy to tune and hold a tune well.

its a great engine, i have been using it for years. im pretty sure you got the one with the long shaft? if so, u need to cut it down with a dremel, then attach the clutch nut and the rest of the stuff onto it. Its awesome for bashing(I would know) and with the right setup its pretty fast. There is nothing wrong with the head on it, dont know why you would change it right away. I have however did change it, if you do this it will run slightly cooler.

Like I said it is a good engine but for the same price you can get an OS engine with over twice the HP. But no matter what OS you get they are great engines!!! [8D]

I have an OS .15 CV-RX in my stadium truck that has only .15 less HP then an OS .18 CV-RX. I have had it in my truck for over 3 gallons and still runs great with out any drive train problems. Of coarse I up graded the drive train when I put the kit together. Keep in mind OS has always been very conservative with their HP rating and normally put out more then there claimed HP.

Just like my next engine I hope to get in the next couple of months the OS .18 TZ. Claimed HP 1.8 but when an independent put it on a dyno was putting out all most 2.3HP. I guess it has to do if you have a truck that can handle the HP like I do. I have a HPI MT1 Racer kit up graded to all most HPI MT 2 .18SS standards. Will be totally up graded to MT 2 .18 SS standards before I put the TZ in.

Claimed HP
OS .15 CV-X HP.68 not even a whole HP
OS. 15 CV-RX HP 1.2 the one I have now
OS. 18 CV-RX HP 1.35 the one I would get for your truck if it can handle it.
OS .18 TZ HP 1.8 but really putting out all most 2.3 HP

Like I said all OS are great engines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw where the .15 and the .18 are about the same price, but I don't think my tranny will handle the .18, and I don't care to upgrade it. That's why I chose the .15. I just want to step up from the stock AE. Crash, have you had any troubles or issues with yours?

Keep in mind there is a bid difference between the CV-RX and the CV-X. I would think it would handle more then just .68 HP in the .15CV-X. I have a whole lot more in my Rush then that.

Like I said you can not go wrong with and OS no matter which one you get.

No. I ran about 10 gallons through my old one and about 6-7 in my new one without rebuilds. Just do your usual maintenence and check the tranny every gallon. But after awhile the gears WILL be worn down just like everything else on the truck. [&:]
