Hi I read this on Traxxas website and they are saying 55.8mph is the top speed right out of the box! I dont think its true cause every manufacturer seems to bull sh** about their top speeds. any ways whats real top speed for JATO? If you guys raced JATO and REVO togeather on straight pavement road which one wins? is it by much? or almost same top speed? cause I'm going to buy one of them.

I can't see it doing 55.8mph out of the box...but I don't know.

As for the JATO/Revo battle...have a guess...same engine, Revo bigger and heavier...

Who cares about top speed. can you drive it on a track with tight turns and jumps?

What I really want is FAST BASHING truck! I got Savage SS so now I need speed machine! lets say I changed engine in JATO with OS 18TM thing how much faster it will get? My local hobbyshop dont have schmachers.

I don't know about all that, but the Jato is certainly fast enough for me.

My Father-In-Law bought a Jato, the minute it hit the shelf. He's using Traxxas Top Fuel, 20%, and has been incapable of exceeding 46.7mph. ( That was measured with a Garmin E-Trex GPS taped to the body. It added some weight ( 380 grams ) and some aerodynamic drag, so I'll give you that the measured speed is lower than an unburdened truck. ) Now, 46.7mph is nothing to sneeze at, and he's probably actually closer to 50mph..... But that's way below the advertised claim of 55+.

And don't anybody try to tell me he hasn't tuned the engine right. He's been running glow powered airplanes since the mid 60's. He's forgotten more about engines, than I will ever know!.

It's close to the 55mph...airplane engines and car engines are totally different...airplanes always run rich cause they lean out in flight...so you can't compare the two...tuning is similar though. The jato's running at 46mph are doing so cause of alot of different reasons...temp, climate and so on....they claim of 55mph isn't false I've hit 56mph with mine on a 100 degree day and clocked via radar using 33% odonnell running road rage tires on the stock tires it was slightly slower...49mph...same day my evader did 52mph with a os .18 cv-rx and my xtm xcell hit 58mph with os .18 cv-rx my xtm gas car top at 46mph...traxxas mb at 49mph both running 50:1 mix and 29cc bore/stroker kits. All run stock spur and clutch bells.

The fastest my jato goes is 51.8mph, a bit below the advertised speed but its still pretty fast

WOW your guys JATOS are slow. My Jato dose about 65 to 70 MPH

Not true, they are no different, just different applications Or uses for them differant rpm different cooling head .but otherwise same

the reason people aren't seeing the maximum top speed is because company's will lean the engine out to dangerous levels to get the extra performance....the 55 is usually only under extreme lean condition not for life of engine...my runs almost 50 and its a dandy to keep going straight...and its not really about the speed who cares if it can go 55+ ina straight line i know it can take great sweepng turns at rediculous speeds and thats whati like and as soon as u wanna change directions drop the throttle and watch the front tires dig and its going in that direction without ever breathing hard...one problem though...stock tires suck...get new tires....thats all it requires....also if you require the extra 5mph just get a new spur gear or clutch bell

All I know is that my jato is hella fast and easily acheives high 40's and low 50's it's very easy to control at that speed too which I found pretty sweet

ummm, well if its anything like my friends stock evader i say about 45mph normal and 50 lean
my electric pro-stock does a mean 59+ with six friggin cells can you say weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! [X(]

Mine got clocked going 44 across a parking lot, It was not topped out, i ran out of braking distance and launched it off a hill. no damage. The cop was giving me crap because i was getting up to 39 before i had to brake, so i hit 44 and we called it a day:-)
after that i switched the radios out. Later i found the carb was not opening all the way. Its going a decent amount faster now, id bet its around 53 ish. The throttle wasn't even close to all the way open

How can an evader do 45-50. STOCK!!! Thats impossible, that has to be a lie, not to flame anyone, but they are only supposed to go about 35 stock.

yeah i recently had a guy formulize it itll do 37mph or 42 at a dangurous level i wouldent use the dangurous level my friend blew his motor up... well, i helped
