steel cables in a pullstart aren't done for a reason... rope is used for a reason on pretty much every engine that has a pull start. ropes handle fraying MUCH better then a cable does. if you have a single strand of the wire break you might as well redo the entire thing, it is going to unwind and jam soon after.

I have ran about 20 tanks through it with no problem. also have machined a few parts for this application. I have kept a close eye on the fraying, this was a concern of mine like you said. But the cable is VERY high quility, stainless steel thin lay. Seems to be good
