How do you know if ur glow plug is bad?
if it is bad will it make the engine idle very roughly and die when you let off the throttle. If not then what is causing this?

[sm=confused.gif]how does that work? I didn't think the element in the plug eats away. One end is stuck (stamped?) to the under side of the plug so it can't move.

You should keep a couple in your field box and if there is any dough put a new one in if this does not help save the old one as a spare. All so if the coil is distorted replace it. I replace mine if any part of the coil does not glow.

Only the coil is hot, lol. Not everywhere around it, until it's in the engine and does it's job

RE: How do you know if ur glow plug is bad?
Ummm...no. I realize that by posting this I will sound like a smart***, but I do this just because the charge isn't what's heating up the entire plug. The plug gets hot because the coil in the middle is hot. The coil gets hot because it is the resistance in the setup. Once the electrons pass over the coil element they travel relatively free back to the negative side of the battery. And the thing is metal, if the middle gets hot, the heat will transfer...

Yeah i dont know what the current thing was all about. The only reason it burnt me is because after i held it for a bit the coil eventually heated up the rest of the plug. It got stuck in my glow starter and i couldnt get it out... and it was very hot by the time i did lol.
