I have just rebuilt my OS 12 cvr with a new piston and sleeve. Now when I try and start the wheels spin. I have taken it a part and I think my clutch is no good because it is always engaged. It is on a RC10GT. I have also made sure that the brake was applied a little at idle but does not help. I guess I have to order a new one but my LHS only orders every 2 weeks, that sucks.
Any ideas guys???
thx,

have you looked at the clutch? not sure of that one, but does it have a spring? spring broken? how is your idle speed? does the clutch spin free by hand when the engine isn't running?

Yes it has a spring that goes around a 2 teflon pieces that I guess are the shoes. Together they form a full one peice ring. No the spring is not broken and it is still pretty strong as far as I can tell. Yes the clutch turns when the engine is off.

Check that the clutch bell isn't rubbing on the flywheel. If it is, shim it with a thin washer. Also check for a clutch bell bearing that is failing.

Almost sounds like the sign of hydro locking, if im understanding your post correctly, but if you jsut rebuilt it then it shouldnt already be flooded. How much do you prime it when starting. I am probably wrong about it, but I just thought id throw that idea otu there.

If the spring is good and strong around the clutch shoes, and it still want to roll away on you, follow these guys advice and first check your idle: is it too high? If so back it off as much as you can without it stalling and see if that helps. If that doesn't help, check for rubbing. your clutch bell might be rubbing the flywheel, if it is follow Joe's advice and shim it out until it is clear. If your still not able to fix it, check the bearings. A failed bearing on the clutchbell can lock the bell onto the shaft and make it spin all of the time.
