Default THREAD LOCK.

Can thread lock be used to hold on exhaust bolts that keep loosening?

Yes, use the blue stuff, its more for plastic, the red stuff is what we use on car engines and it will eat plastic up. NAPA has the stuff cheap, about half what my LHS wanted for the same amount.

First do not use any type of thread lock on plastic. All so what is use to loosen up thread lock is heat so I do not know how well it will work on the exhaust. Sure does not work on motorcycle exhaust. Not sure you can do this on yours but I put a long screw throw and a nut on the back after threading throw the header.

Purple for very small fasteners the weakest
Blue removable what we use on our RC
Red bearing retainer I use this on a lot of motorcycles
Green sleeve retainer

my bad, thread lock not on exhaust bolt, was thinking head bolts, busy day yesterday. You could try like a gas tape rap or water tape rap. Ive seen guys use it, it secures bolts well. or like the other fella said, try longer bolt and nut.

I'll try that and the longer bolt too. I have enough room to do it. Thanks.
