Default What's A Good Shock For A Rustler?

Hey,
I want to get some better shocks for my Rustler. I don't know what to get and I'd like to ask some people from experience. I hear Evader shocks work well but is there anything else that's good out there? What about those shocks with the side reservoirs on them, are they available for the Rustler? If so, are they good?

Thanks,
Bry

The Evader shocks are not the greatest, they are prone to leaking, they are OK for the price, but aside form being aluminum they wouldnt really be much of an upgrade over your stock shocks.

The GPM shocks are good, the AE shocks are good, and the Losi shocks are supposed to be good.

I don't think too many people (if any?) use piggy back shocks on ST's, that's mostly used on big heavy MT's.

Funny, I've had four (yes four) full sets of Evader shocks and all four sets leak(ed). The stock shocks on my Nitro Evader BX leaked, the blue aluminum ones I put on it leaked, the stock shocks on my Evader ST leaked, and the blue aluminum ones I put on it did as well.

No problems with any of my other shocks though, not even the stock ones on my T-maxx [&:]

thats bad, but ive never had any problem with mine (except for when i rebiult them like a normal top fill shock first time and blew the seal out of the bottom of one when i went and dropped my car, to see how they would handle it, but that was my fault not the shocks)
but i HATED my stock ones so these are a big improvement from those. for me anyway.

Dann

edit was to change 'toes' to 'those'

I've been useing Dura-trax thunder quake (or Axis ) shocks on my Rusty for a while now And so far so good .
They are a bit on the stiff side however.

I installed Emaxx shocks w/ Evader ST yellow rear springs on my friends Rustler. They work very well but you loose one setting on the height adjustment.

Hi,

1) Same original question, one ofmy Rustler'sstock rear shock has a bent shaft.
So instead of buying a replacement shaft, maybe I should get better shocks. I am looking at Traxxas Ultra Shocks.

Would that be a good upgrade?
Or what else is better?

The Rustler runs on fairly smooth dirt, does some 2' highjumps max, and I am not that good at it yet.
So no need for high-end stuff.

2) BTW, do the seals and piston rings on the stock shocks fit in the Ultra shocks?

Paul
