i buddy of mine gave me a new rc10gt and one thing I notice is the range with the xp2 radio is about 400 feet with new batteries in the car and controller.. does this sound right? my t-maxx goes almost about a 1/4 mile. the antenna is fully extended, the antenna wire is fully out, it doesn't seem to have any thing to create noise. see photo and let me know if something is wrong.. thanks

Your saying your maxx has a range of 1320 feet??? 400 feet is normal for a car, as at 400 feet you can barley see your car much less tell which direction it is heading.

Are your crystals in the appropriate place? Rx in the receiver, and Tx in transmitter?
Simple mistake and easily overlooked...Worth double checking.
Otherwise, maybe change to a different set of crystals. They are pretty fragile, and a truck can see alot of abuse...

there was a sort of round one and a squarer one.. the squarer one seems to be in all my other transmiters.. on the rc10 the rouund one was in the trans and squarer one in the car.. they weren't marked rx and tx ... so I switched them as in my other rc cars.. thanks.. how do you tell the differance between the 2?

They are usually marked.
The flag prob. got torn off, or taken off to get the little cover back on.
Switch them and test(first with the engine off), and maybe that will give you better range.
