RUSTLER
#2
my friends got a rustler and so far theres only been two major problems. he hates the ez-start cause it can barley turn over the engine. plus the trx is INCREDIBLY hard to tune correctly. its a very figity engine. other than that its great.

I Have a NItro Rustler as my first nitro truck and i have had no problems with the easy start or tuning. The parts i would replace are the shock towers and shock caps with aluminum. Those are the only parts i have broken so far Later..

i think its a nice truck for racing but not a very durable basher.....since i topped it out and hit a small ramp and broke a few thing such as:
-Snapped the rear wheel hub
-Cracked thebattery box
-Cracked rim
-Snapped CVD
-Cracked front shock tower
-Cracked shock cap
-Shock rod bent
-Snapped rear shock tower
-Snapped rear A-arm
-Cracked upper chassis
-Snapped off front bumper
AND
-Lost a battery somewhere in the process of all of that wreckage......BUT IT IS FIXABLE!!!...lol
I would definally get a rustler if you like spending money...lol

From: Dead Center,
The shocks and towers. I also replaced the radio, not because it was junk, but because it has no steering gain on it. At high speed, if you turn the wheel, the truck would roll side over side, I put the crystal in my rush evo controller to run the rusty and with the gain turned just right, the truck is much better turning at stop speed. I also tossed on the 2.5R just for kicks.

My opinion (cause it happend to me) is that if you wait to get a new shock tower until you break the original you may then need to get the new shock caps as well because the breaking of the shock tower will help break the caps at the same time depending on how bad the tower breaks. So I would replace the shock tower asap and leave the shocks stock for bashing and upgrade as needed or wanted with the nitro evader shocks or the bigbore's from traxxas. Other mods would be to eliminate the elec. start with pull or bump start, a new recharge 5 cell pack, which ever tuned pipe you decide on, new radio and servos (good steering servo is nice), and bearings anyplace you dont already have them.

i do know that there is a carbon fiber replacement for it but i dont know where to get it.
