Hey all,
Im having a problem with my rc10gt. I can not seem to get it started. When I plug the exhaust and pull on the starter cord a few times nothing really happens, the fuel just sits at the bottom of the fuel line and moves about 1/4 inch up the line and back down. It kind of sounds like an air leak just before it goes back down. I pulled the line off the carb and tried it again and out came the fuel very easily. I put the line back on the carb and pulled the line that goes in the pipe and blew into it. I could get it about half way up. I pulled on the throttle and at about 6/8 throttle the fuel moved into the carb with ease. I tried to start it and nothing. I can put fuel right into the carb and it will run for about a second and cut out. Does this sound like a plugged up carb? If so what can I do about it.

I have a Jato and I had the same problem. I changed all the fuel lines, cleaned the high speed and the low speed needle, changed the fuel tank, and tightened the back plate..from what you described it sounds like an air leak. hope this helps

What happens if you raise the throttle a bit using the trim on your transmitter? If this does not work I would pressure test the system under water.

From: Dead Center,
replace the fuel lines, both of them (from the tank to the carb and from the exhaust to the tank). Also look at the tank real good, is it cracked? Does the cap fit tight? If your running a fuel filter (and you should be, if not shame shame) make sure its installed right and it too is tight. Those few things should fix that problem for you. Try blowing into the tank via the exhaust tube. See if you can blow it to the carb. An air leak is hard to run down but those are the first things to try, and cheapest.

All the lines are replaced, i tested the tank under water with some pressure inside the tank, I have a fuel filter and it is on right. Also as I said I tried blowing into the tank through the exhaust tubing and it doesn't really move untill nearly wide open throttle, then it flows with ease.

Fuel will flow slowly. I just tried it with my .15 size engine and I had the same thing happen. The fuel was slow to move through the lines unless WOT was applied, it slightly reversed direction back in to the tank. I would run the engine and if you notice a non uniform idle, hard to tune, lean running ect. pull the carb off and clean both needles.
Since you use a fuel filter I would imagine the problem is just a characteristic of the setup and will do no harm. But just to make certain run the engine and observe/listen to it.

The only way I can get it to run is to put fuel directly into the carb drop by drop then it will run for about a half a second and stop. What is a good way to clean the valves?

From: Dead Center,
take the carb apart and clean it with some water, must have gottn dirt in it some how. check seals for cracks, lowes had some rubber washers in plumbing I use to replace old ones. before you put it back together, dru it good ofcourse and dip the parts in a bit of fuel. tighten it down good, toss it backk on and see what it does then. Could even be a dirt in the tank keeping fuel from flown, rise and dry it good too, or replace. Can you blow fuel through the line if its not hooked to the carb? if so, its in the carb.
