Default shock tower help

I have aluminum shock towers and I put them on my MT2. The problem is that they are thinner than factory plastic. And now the shock spring runs the upper arm. Do you need a spacer on the top, also the towers come with 6 screws to mount it on but no screws to mount shock with. Anyone have the same trouble? The shock tower is a gpm brand.
