As my first nitro car, I think Im gettin the Hpi MT2 18ss kit. For anyone who owns one, Im just wondering about a few basic things such as top speed, best fuel to run in it, how difficult it is to build, durability, and any other tips I should know. Thanks

if you take your time and do things right, the kit isn't real hard to build, you can do it in less than a week after work or school or whatever.. some of the pieces are a bit small so you'll want to do it in a work area instead of on the couch or kitchen table..
this truck in my opinion is a very durable truck.. very few things have broke on mine, and none of them were without me using a tree to help break them...
fuel? hmmm, I run either O'donnels or Blue Thunder, I'm sure this will be like the ford vs. chevy debate, everyone does different fuel for different reasons..
let me think about my build some tonight and I'll try to get you a bit of a better response on building tips.. I just kind of looked at things when they went together and modified if needed...

yes, it "floats on the grass" as said by rcdriver. I'm thinking of getting one myself just because it's a freaking beast when it comes to jumps. For racing purposes, it's a good way to go XD.

I got these because the truck shreds the dritbonz tires.. So if your going to drive on the street, its a good investment....
I can't wait till my O.S. .18cv-rx motor comes in, I should be able to hit like 50mph+ with it....

yeah rep, they're aluminum, check www.rc4wd.com
O'donnell is in every way superior to Blue Chunder...i ran blue thunder for about a year, and switched to O'donnell...
the difference in power and running temps is incredible...even the blue chunder "race" blend runs your junk way too high of temps. it's REAL oily. O'donnell is the way to go.
also, the HPI nitro MT is easy to work on, easy to maintain, and tough as hell. you'll love it.

Lol, I can't stop laughing at that, I hate those trees... I've hit a tree at almost wide open throttle with my mt2 and just basically shattered everything on the front right of the car...

two weekends ago we were out bashing, I managed to top a hill, get some great air (full throttle of course) and clip a tree.. the results.. the left side of the truck was severed.... not real pretty..
but on a good note - (this impressed me) I had it rebuilt in about 45 minutes, seems to me that my evader, RC10, and anything else I own take a lot longer than this truck to repair...

I'm running dirt hawgs on my MT2, they seem to work well, I think I bought some bling bling proline rims... I have run the tires that came with the truck, and those work well for me bashing also..

i've got the mt 2 rtr version, pretty good truck. so i can bet that the ss is even stronger. i have the .18 cv-rx in mine and it flies, doing like 45 ish, my stock tires aren't that grippy any more and are close to being slicks. but it's a good truck. i finally broke something on it two days ago. rear a-arm and that was it, and a rear dog bone flew out some where in the grass. ah well, the truck is great.

What type of terrain are you looking to be driving on?
Me myself I use dirtbonz for the park, their awesome on the dirt, grass, and over rocks...
And I use those street tires that I linked you guys to for the street because those are of a harder compound and will last longer on the street, They don't provide the most grip but they work... Buy softer compound for more grip...

Well..I drive on mostly pavement, gravel and dirt at the same time....
So an on-road tire wouldn;'t eb that great and the dirtbonz will wear out fast on the pavement.
I'm looking for somethign that will last a little longer and have fairly decent amount of traction on the surfaces...

The thing with those is their made for rock crawling, Their going to baloon like crazy on the Mt2.. And their going to put on a lot of weight on the rims, But I guess theyll work if your not going to go that fast..
I personally think these would be the best...
