my little brother just gave me his xtm x-cellerator and i cant seem to get it to run properly, ive been tuning nitro engines for about 3 yrs now and thus one has got me stumped. it starts with ease when its cold, but wont start at all when its hot, when it starts it runs fine 4 a few minutes, then all it wants to do is flame out when it comes down to an idle, and is hard to keep running. im starting to think the engine is rooted, what do u think? thanks

you might need a new piston/sleeve. you're in luck, because the piston/sleeve sets for SH engines are dirt cheap compared to OS or anybody else.
what engine is in it? do you know how much fuel has gone through the engine?

In that case you probably need a new piston/sleeve.
try turning the engine over by the flywheel. if it's easy to turn over, then it probably DOES need a new p/s

Did you check if there were any air leaks first? An air leak can cause those problems, and is often the case. If you can't find any air leaks, then it could definitely be a worn piston and sleeve.

yes like valve said check for air leaks. im having the same problem. i was thinking it was the p/s also, but the other day i was running the truck in alot of dirt and the only clean spot left was the front bearing "air leak!". so check for those air leaks first.

could be a air leak, caus the engine was filthy but i think it could just be the exhaust seal, plus i think the compression is poor

i thought about putting a new p/s in mine also(only $30 at lhs), but i have a few projects right now that im putting $ into so this one takes a back seat for a while. however you decide to proceed, i hope everything works out for you.
