I had a top c12 and was very fast but i got it second hand and the bearings were leaking so i dont know how old it was or how much fuel was run through it.I like the looks of the Fantom FR.12 the cheapest price motor will be the novarossi @ $100.00 including shipping. 129.00 plus shipping for the Fantom and 119.00 plus s&h for the O.S .12CV-RX

He is talking about the CV not the CV-R big difference. The CV has the square head and the CV-R has the round head. The CV is very reliable but is very low on HP. I agree co with the .18 CV-R or the CV-RX. The X stands for pull starter. If you want all the HP you can get in a small block go with the TZ. But it is coast twice as much but is one heck of a engine. OS makes great engines!

I would have to go with the O.S but since your not racing i would have to go with the O.S .18CVR I have one in my xxx-nt and when i want to i can do wheelies all day long if i so choose. But i choose not to, but the .18cvr has a ton of power and is very reliable and is easy as he## to tune. And the .18cvr cost me $105 and the last time i checked on tower hobbies it was about the same.
But thats just what i would do in the end it's all up to you

OS is newb proof. Its probably the best first timer engine out there. But, after you grow in R/C, you crave more performance, speed, and power... which is why I am running STS and not goin back to OS again.
Good bashing engine though, the OS that is.

Do not get me wrong, as I have heard a lot of good things about STS! I see as far as small blocks the biggest they make is .12 I am sure they do this because most race sanctions do not allow anything bigger and only make one engine recommended for off road use. I have heard the new OS .30 is under powered.
