richen after new pipe

Default richen after new pipe

hi i got a torque tuned pipe for my xtm x-cellerator. The shop said to richen it but i dont know how much and do i do it before i start the engine

Run it first, then decide if it needs to be richened.

I would start it up and then right after you start it up then richen it up. I would go maybe 1/2 to at the most 1 full turn on the hsn and maybe a 1/4 to 1/2 on the lsn. But no further then those incriminates. It's better to start off and richen it up right away and be a little sluggish then to start it up and hurt your engine right away and rob your engine of power and of it's life span.

But's thats just how i would do it and in the end it's up to you

I agree with hyperman, but I personally wouldn't go quite that far with either needle. In fact, I wouldn't move the lsn until after the hsn is tuned, as any changes to the hsn affect the lsn. I guess the whole idea is to make sure you start out rich and lean it for the desired performance in small increments, and just be aware that your tune will have to change from the old pipe.
