What is better for racing? A pull start or non pull start?

use a starter box for racing.....don't have to worry about OWB failure, spring, cord breaking and it frees up some rpm

Pull starts a nice, all you have to carry around is the glow starter. If the engine is tuned right and taken care of, it will start in 3 pulls or less. You can race with a pull start, but non-ps engines will run smoother. Starter boxes are great, they start the engine quick, but they can be a pain to carry around.

Pull start huys will argue that when ur car stalls it only requires a quick pull to start it rather than the box. but when it stops the marshal is required to run it back to the pit area so in that time u might as well have a slightly longer but completely reliable method.
