First of all, don't give up so easy. Try adjusting your idle stop screw (I don't know what kind of truck you have, so go to your manual if you have it). This screw should be a flathead type, close to the carb opening, with a spring wrapped around it. adjust clockwise to increase idle rpm, counterclockwise to decrease idle rpm.

He said it earlier. Its the little flathead one with the sring wrapped around (most likely) it and its closest to the carb. You probably never touched this needle.

if that doesn't work start the car off the ground & if it sit's there idling & the wheels are spinning it may be a worn/broken clutch spring. this can stall the engine.

I had a clutch spring break once, but it never stalled my engine. It still sounds to me like your idle screw is set too low.

OOOOH -TAY !! I got it now. It was the one on the throttel arm
I had to turn it almost all the in thou. That seems a bit weird [:-] I took it out today and it ran like a scaled dog. Not to bad for a rebuilt engine. Just a bit of regearing and putting on my street meats amd all is well in my little world again. Thanks guys for the help

er, nope the one on the throttle arm is the low speed needle, your engine will run fast now because youve leaned it right out

clutch bearings, clutch spring, do stuff to the truck before turning the idle hsn lsn on the engine. Ive seen to many play around with the carb setting just to find out the bearings needed replacing or spring. Plus, they need to go back and reset the carb. Before tuning on the carb, check the other stuff first.

Thanks Mitchell for the link on the TRX 2.5 . That should put me on the right track. I hope I’m not gonna muck up my motor by having it set the way I do. It runs really good and my temps are ok.
