Running on private property like a parking lot with out permission can get you in trouble. You think it is funny but you can get in much trouble driving them on a public street! If you cause and accident you will be liable! Most states they can write you many tickets running on a public road or street.

So driving on my street through my neigborhood can get me in trouble? Huh. JK Yeah, some cops are cool, but some are not. You hear about cops radaring truck all the time, but there are no cops where I live becuase there's never any crime.

i was driving in my street and this was when i was breaking my evader and my back was to oncoming traffic so i turn around to see A COP sitting there waiting form me to move. i didn't how long she was sitting there but it must have been long enough for her to come to a complete stop. so i jolted into my driveway and let her pass and the only thing i got was a wave goodbye so i really don't think its that serious if you driving on the street unless the neighbors complain or you have an illegal RC.

When I first got into this hobby in 1983 I was racing with a newly formed club on a dead end street in front of a school in Brooklyn, NY. Some lady told the cops that there was "drag racing" going on. So a couple of cops came by and saw our activity. They gave us no trouble at all. They only asked questions of curiosity as they had never seen anything like our R/C cars before. That was 1/8 scale on road gas cars, nitro as we call them today. Me and my two friends were the first ones to have Associated RC 500's while everyone else was running Rc 300's. It was my very first time out and I won too!

Sometimes I would take th car out to an empty parking lot by myself to make sure it was working OK before a big race and I never had any trouble from anyone. Just occasional passers-by that were curious because they either never had seen an RC car before or certainly never seen one that could move that fast.

Well so far for the kids and I .....the one time we had cops show up was cause ...kidlet #1 had ran his truck threw a yard down by a park (didnt do any damage) just lost control shot across this guys grass at about 20+mph (WHILE he was mowing the yard)....the wife inside called ...her hubby just laughed.....nothing really happend cause the hubby told his wife it was no big deal..she on the other hand is ALWAYS watching us like a hawk when ever we goto that park

When the kids and i are at a park or open field we normally get 1-2 cops that stop watch the trucks fly and ask questions ...and they tested their radar guns out on the trucks..most cops will be cool with you if you show them respect and just show general common sense when driving your truck...and not doing WOT fly bys on people or running in peoples yards when your on the street area

Kidlet #1's 30mph
Kidlet #2 33mph
MINE!!! 38mph

Yeah I have never run into any trouble with the cops. I have had tons of people including cops come up and ask general questions. The most common--HOW FAST WILL IT GO. And what kind of fuel does it use. The cost of the gas usually draws the most attention as they just think we run them on regular pump gas. The RPM'S also draws some WOW from the crowd. But I have never run into any cops as of yet to tell me to stop and go home.

Most people are just curios then them actually being mad and annoyed. I know that my next door neighbor is prolly annoyed but not to much as he used to run electrics all the time. But has since stopped for some reason other then him wanting to stop. But most the times I dont think cops will yell at you.
