Default bigger spur?

This is probably a noob question but do you have to replace the clutch bell in order to change to a bigger spur gear. I'm tryin to add a 58t spur on my jato 3.3 but there is no room to move the motor to create more clearance between the spur and the stock cluth bell. Also does more teeth mean greater circumfrance of the spur. I would really appreciate you guys help. Thanx

First I have to ask why you are going to a bigger spur? and 2nd yes you have to go with a smaller bell to get the 58 to fit.....but honestly I dont think you will like the ratio that you want to put in there..and with that ratio I can pretty much promise you will end up over reving the motor.

Bigger spur and/or smaller pinion gives better acceleration and less top speed

smaller spur and/or bigger pinion gives better top speed but less acceleration

With my jato 3.3 acceleration is far from a problem..why do you want to get more bottom end?

The reason is because I'm putting proline moabs on back... I just finished gluing them to and it's a big pain. Hopefully they'll hold.

he wouldnt neccessarily have to go w/ a smaller clutch bell, loosening the motormount to adjust the spacing to the spur gear should be possible, unless it is past the range

Yeah I tried moving the motor but it only moved enough to barely fit the 56T.

Try stock gearing first then try the different spur. There is absolutely no reason for you to run a 58 tooth spur, maybe a 18 tooth clutch bell but if you put a 58 tooth spur a nd a smaller that stock clutch bell you will blow that engine in a few tanks of gas!!!!!!
