RE: Official Traxxas Nitro Sport Thread!!
Ok it doesn't seem like anyone is posting here anymore so I don't know who will get this but here goes. I haven't been on in a while becuase 1. my nitro sport has been out of commission and 2. so has my internet. But now both are back up and running in all their glory and I am ready to get back online and see what you guys are up to.

I have issues with fuel going from top of tank to muffler too. Is that what makes it not want to start? Mine will crank up cold, then die after ~4 minutes...then will never start again. Very Frustrating.
I don't have a LHS in my town...the truck was used off ebay but has progressivly gotten harder to start (less than 6 outings). I had a nitro 6 yrs ago (Kyosho Nostagia GT series 4wd onroad). I gave up on it b/c of all the trouble I had starting it and parts breaking.

RE: Official Traxxas Nitro Sport Thread!!
marksale05, i dont run the Traxxas Nitro Sports, but pretty much all nitros are the same. I had some problems starting up my evader and sounds just like your problem. When you take off the muffler make sure you have a gasket between the muffler and the connection to the motor, if you dont have a tight seal you will not get fuel suctioned into the piston due to air slipping in..., or you may need a new tuned muffler?, make sure your carb settings are propper, if none of those work test to see if your truck has compression. To test compression take off the glow plug and see the difference with it on and off, if there is a signifigant difference between the tension then your should be all set with that. Last of all it may have to do with your fuel take or fuel lines. I may not be completely correct, but those are some ideas i used to trouble shoot mine... it happend to be the gasket between the muffler and motor for me.

Mine had a very close encounter with a pole snapping it in two but that was like 4 months ago but now it is back together YAY. But it is a very strong truck. I put a Nosram RS18 engine in it and it flies. heres a few pics of my Sport!

Posting the same question twice will do nothing but irratate others[:@]. It may be possible to fit a Jato 2 speed into the sport, but it would require some modding. Also, you can get a new engine. I would say and OS .18 would give you great power. But then again, so would a Nosram RS18. The sport can be made very fast with a new engine.

Oh. And to answer your tire question, get a set of Yokohama Geolanders from HPI. These tires are great if you are bashing because they last a long time and give good grip on pavement, grass, dirt and gravel. If you are going to race on a dirt track, get some proline bow-ties. These are great tires

I have been told that you cannot put a 2 speed transmission in a nitro sport but surely if you were to have it custom built it may work.

RE: Official Traxxas Nitro Sport Thread!!
Hi guys, I changed rear tires to nobies (got rid of the dirt hawgs), gears to 72spur,18 p, and did some suspention work. Now she's fast as hell and does some good wheelies. I even broke a axle doing wheelies ( sports have no sliper clutch). I was so psyched!!! Here's pics and a video. I don't think i can put video on. utube seems to be the way, with a link. I'll try it. Here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i76dUXYbepw

Here is a video of my friends nitro sport with a trx 2.5 and my ofna dominator with an HPI 2.5 Nitro Star. Next video will be of my nitro sport with a trx 2.5 and a t-maxx slipper clutch and spur gear against his sport when we get a chance to run again.

I've been reading that replacing the spring with a tubing line for the brake servo works much better.
Could I please get some feed back on this and some pics. Thanks.

The combustion in the engine keeps the plug hot, it jst needs the glow ignitor to start it up. Throw that wire away
