Default Duratrax Diff/Tranny Problem

I just dropped a new .18 into my duratrax maximum st and have stripped TWO plastic counter gears in the tranny in two days. The truck hauls ***** now, but stripping the gears sucks. Anyone know how I can prevent this? Will losening the slipper clutch help at all? I'm buyin a new metal counter gear, but now I'm affraid that the new metal gear might strip the diff...
Any suggestions?

Best bet is the slipper, that and buying full metal parts if you can.

Thanks guys. I'll try that. The second time it stripped I had just run through a patch of lawn at pretty high speed and it had slowed the truck down a lot as it drove through it. Could this have caused the problem? Is lawn bad?
