Getting into trucks and nitro.
#1
I'm thinking about getting the Tower Terror from Tower Hobbies because it is RTR for only $320 (not including fuel).
I am a nitro noob. I want to know everything about the care and upkeep of a .25 nitro engine. Also, what will any additional costs be (i.e. specialty tools)?
I plan for this to be a lengthy forum.
Thanks!

I just recently got into nitro myself. The most important thing I've found so far is to read, read, and read some more. Use online resources like this site and read all the information you can about your particular engine and truck.
Some of the things you will definitely want to make sure you do and need are.
1.) Make sure you break in the engine properly.
2.) Make sure you perform after run maintenance.
Only special tools you might need if the kit doesn't include are a glow plug wrench for removing the glow plug and a long skinny screw driver for tuning the engine. It also helps to have some extra glow plugs handy.
You'll also want to make sure you have oil for the air filter and some type of after run oil (I run a traxxas 3.3 engine so use WD-40, not sure if other manufacturers recommend this as well for an after run oil).
Nitro can be frustrating when you first get into it, but I've gotten better and better and running/tunning my engine and love the hobby. Just stick with it and be patient.

Hey
I think you better start out with somthing that is more common and known to people. Like for example a HPI or Traxxas products are great for beginners (Great Manual, Tuning DVD, Jato's pretty durable). Also the tower terror is not a very common truck and your in michigan! Where exactly in michigan are you. I am also from michigan but i live in china right now because of my fathers work. Threre are local hobby shops all over michigan, if only you could tell us what city you are exactly (we aren't going to go and rape your house)
Dan
EDIT: Also RC Car Action is a great magizine with lots of tips. They can help you alot and I have 4 issues and i have to keep on going back and looking at them to fix problems i encounter.
