from the factory, my firestorm steering is all screwed up. We have to have the steering trim all the way to one side to be close to straight. Now it barely turns left. I know i have to adjust the horn on the steering servo to make te wheels staright with no trimming.

I need to know the least amount of parts to remove in order to gain access to the steering servo horn. Has anybody done this?. So if somebody could take me through the steps to get to the steering servo horn i would be very happy.

Thanks in advance,
Nick

Remove the front shock tower and the upper deck.[:@]With the carbon fiber upper deck, the front piece is seperate from the back piece, therefore you would only have to remove the front shock tower and the front piece.

ok thanks for the info. Also, i was looking at the upper deck and can't seem to figure out which screws need to be removed to take off the upper deck. I saw that some were to hold down servos. i'll have to look at it again. i have time because now we have to wait until HPI sends us the exhaust gasket that blew in 2 days of driving...

Just wondering, I am going to be getting a Firestorm this weekend. Have it ordered from my LHS. I have been an 1/8th scale buggy guy for the past couple years, and want to explore ST's. I have heard that the FS isn't as great as say the GT2 or a XXX-NT for racing, is it more to do with the chassis design or is it just underpowered compared to the other ST's? I have heard great things about the O.S. .18 TZ and would love to drop one in someday, but will that engine make it more compettitive with the GT2 and XXX-NT? I know it probably isn't race legal either, should I be looking at another motor for racing and still being competitive? These mods are a ways down the road still, but it'd be nice to know. I plan on bashing with the stock setup for awhile, upgrading the servo's and electronics, then moving on from there. I probably wont replace the motor until the stock one is yukored anyways. One other question, I have an OFNA Hyper 7 and want to know if the FS would be a fair match for it? I know it goes pretty good for the original .21 O.S. RG Max, and I have had a Hyper .21 8 port in it as well and it really rips in the top end. I know the FS is a lot lighter and still has a nice sized motor, so I am thinking it should give it a run for it's money. Can't wait to get my FS, only 3 more days!

I don't think the problems I have with turning are the servo, it seems strong enough. The problem appears to be more of a problem getting the wheels on the ground enough to turn. I have to back off on the throttle a lot to put a fair bit of weight on the front end to get it to bite. Does anybody else have this problem? My suspension is stock and the front is set pretty soft and the rear end pretty stiff.

cgad, you can one of two things. You can take out the glowplug and rotate the engine and watch the piston move down until it begins to come back up and just leave it there or you can rotate the engine with the glowplug in and rotate the engine with the flywheel until you feel the least resistance and that will be your BDC.

Nate, do you know if anyone makes a more durable or unbreakable brake disc for the firestorm?

No I don't,but you might be able to find a thicker one and 'make' it work...

Can i use 16% fuel to my Firestorm?
You could, but the engine might over-heat more often, and it wouldn't run as good.

There are two things that might not be correct.First, turn your D/R nob, located on top of the transmitter, all the way clockwise. If you still don't see the radius you want, remove the steering servo saver and tighten the bolt until you find the amount of slip,or 'save' that seems right for you.

Whats with the on-road bodies??The Firestorm is an off-road truck,so you might have to get shorter shock shafts for less suspension travel...These bodies are NOT for off-road.

Took my Firestorm out for a bash at the weekend and did a rather large jump and managed to land it on the rear left hand wheel quite hard, now it isn't getting any drive on that wheel. Any idea what this could be?

dogbone prob. snapped common for when you land hard on a wheel. you can buy more for a couple bucks at your lhs very easy to change.

When it's mounted, is it suppose to spin or stand still and spin with the engine?
