to start off i have a duratrax nitro evader, im new to rc so you know im going to want to experiment. i have the stock tuned pipe and was wondeering about this idea. i was looking in my rc magazines and saw for the savage and revo a rear exuast system, and i was thinking whynot make my own, you know sauder some pipes together, i dont know if it would work or anything, and how could i connect it to the engine, do i connect it to the end of the tuned pipe or start it right of the engine. i would appreciate a reply, and dont bother flamming me. thanks for your help.

I don't know how well it would work becasue nitro engines need a certain amount of pressure and they are tuned by that giving them more prower. I mean it should run just not very well.

1: You connect the pipe to the header exhuast.
2: There is some engineering involved in the design of these exhaust pipes, they are not just for looks. Different shapes and sizes will have different effect on the engines performance.
3: Soldering method would probably work. I am just not sure how hot these pipes get, and how hot before solder start to melt. But think about it, if soldering is effective in making exhaust pipes, should we see them on exhaust pipes for sale at hobby shops. So I think welding is best.
Not to discourage you, I like experimenting too. What do you want to acquire by experimenting? Is it for speed, or looks?

tig weld it mate, you could make the manifold longer which shouldn't matter to much, so if you do any modifications do it on the manifold, you can buy flex exhaust pipe i duno if you could get some that small but its worth a go, or even if you used some of that pipe they use between the manifold and the exhaust i was thinking about the same idea for my x-cell but its not going to happen to much mucking around, best of luck.

Rustler made a stinger pipe that went out the back. Id look into that before slapping copper pipes together. It has however been done. I beleive it was on a dustler though. This thing was very loud, scale of 1-10, it was 11.
It made alot of people grin and laugh but it did run, the track wouldnt let him run it for racing though, but it was built just to bash with and to see how far he could launch it off of jumps.
Like I stated above, rustler had a 360 stinger pipe, would be alot easier to make that fit that bust out the copper pipe. GL

When I had access to a milling machine and a lathe I had played around with making some pipe's. I had made three or four of them and tried them but never could get them to really run right. The engine's did run with them but just didnt seem to run like I wanted them two so I stoped making them as it was just a waste of material and money. I think I still have them somewhere as i seen one the other day when I was routing around. But I will say even witht hose machine at hand they still didnt work as well as I had hoped.
Yes you can make them but dont expect the world from them such as huge power gains, infact I would expect to loose power, but maybe you gain some nice sound from it though.
