Im running a hpi rush with a bunch of hop ups including an OS 18... one thing i havnt bought is a rechargeable hump pack. However, laying around i have a 9.6v 8 cell NiCd pack.. What will happen if use this on the rush's stock reciever.. the servo's are both aftermarket futabas. any suggestions?

yea thats kinda what i figured... is there a way to take the pack apart and remove a cell or 2 and rewire it? like is 6v all that the car can handle or can i make my servos stronger?

Yeah you can break it open and pop two cells out. Just watch the soldering gun's proximity to the battery when doing this. You don't want to fry the cells.

So that will leave me with a 6 cell pack.... thats not going to fry anything? stock is only 6v and im going to 7.2v. you guys think i'll be alright?

I do believe if you look most receivers that post a voltage have a maximum of 6 to 6 ½ volts. Correct me if I am wrong. That is why most receiver packs are 6 volts. A good 6-volt receiver pack is a lot cheaper then having to replace a receiver.

Don't go any higher than 6 volts. Just look at servos they give power ratings at 4.8 and 6 volts, nothing higher, probably means you will fry something. Get a new servo if you want more power. Thats what I did. Now I have 195oz. of torque in my ST at 6 volts with my 5 cell pack.
