Rc Driver did a review in their march issue and they said it's top speed was 37.32mph by a stalker radar gun...that's pretty reliable.
RCCA clocked the Jato, bone stock at 67.0 mph by a stalker radar gun as well....the firestorm couldn't touch a jato on the street....dirt...who knows? it's all about set up there.

If you want to win a drag race get a 4tec 3.3, but if you want to win in the dirt get the GT2, XXX-NT, or HPI Firestorm... Top speed does not win at the local tracks... You need a huge track to get a Jato to its top speed, and Traxxas put street tires on the Jato, kinda gives you a good Idea where they ment the Jato3.3 to run..... Jatos are cool if all you want to do is make speed runs, but if your thinking of racing in the dirt look elswhere.... My T-Maxx (I own several Traxxas trucks) with an OS.18CVR will out run my friends Jato3.3 from a stand still to about 110' to 120' drag race, and my freind has alot more experience than I do at setting up an engine... But give his Jato about 200' or more and 65mph it will hit!!! I'm thinking of getting into Nitro ST Racing, and will most likely get the GT2 or Firestorm.... The Jatos are cool but I want a chance at winning at the local tracks.....

This is very common. Why? Because about the 100' mark is where the Jato tires stop smoking and begin to hook up.

Seriously, it does take 30' or so for my Jato to stop burning rubber from a full throttle take-off. That is only with my little 2.5r Jato, not even the faster 3.3. Not that the T-maxx on an OS18 is any slouch, it has the bigger tire 4wd more traction advantage.

Kemo nailed it! Somebody definitely needs to learn to tune in that first video. Having a small block sound that low-pitched at wide open throttle is just wrong. What temps were running there? Maybe 150-165? Also, what happened to 2nd gear? Somebody has a serious over-rich issue there. I hope you get it solved (Or actually go out and buy some fresh 20% and re-watch the tuning video).

Actually my friend with the Jato races and he did everything he knew to do to keep up with my Maxx, and he had awesome traction.... The Jato just doesnt have it.... Jatos are good for all out top speed and this is why Traxxas puts street tires on them... but if you want to win in the dirt you got to look elswhere.... Hmmm, Wonder if someone makes a 2spd for a GT2, now that would be cool..... Hmmm, a 60mph+ GT2.... Dang!!!

the firestorm is actually a decent looking truck for the price my cousin bought one on the weekend we have yet to break it in we will probably compete alittle since i have the 3.3 jato. once we break it in and run the two together ill let you know how it goes. From the looks though i know it will handle better then the jato but than i know it wont have the same speed but the truck is very light and everything looks nice and simple the layout. the only thing i dont like is the remote its not bad for 260 though for the truck.

ill honestly tell you ill put money on the firestorm offroad since its not as powerful but onroad i think we can figure that one out but it should be fun and pretty soon we going to be adding the associated gt2 to the mix to its gonna be intresting to see how it works out. we have a little track close by so we will probably go there and mess around for a little

Okay, i am a racer i compete go to title events etc etc and from a quick look at the jato, when made legal it is raceable, the geometry looks not too bad. the firestorm to mee looks losi ish. i think it will be a good car but why ask whats faster onroad ina drag a 20 powered 2 speed truck or an 18 powered single, just, why ask?

He is definately talking out of his butt, I personally own both. The Jato is faster, only if you can adjust the 2 speed tranny right, which is not easy to do. When I first bought it, I couldn't find any place that was big enough to get it to shift into 2nd. However....The Firestorm is much faster off the line, more durable as I have spent significantly more money on parts for my Jato than I have on my Firestorm. The only thing I have broken on my Firestorm is the front A-arm and since parts aren't readily available quite yet, I just CA'ed it and it will work fine until new parts make their way to my LHS. If I were to do it all over again, I would not have bought the Jato 3.3 and just stuck with the Firestorm. On dirt the Firestorm will blow away a Jato.

Ok, it seems that you guys can’t decide on who is the best out of two. Well I own both (Sold the firestorm recently) cause that things is just molded plastic crap when driving on-road.

It is damn slow. I am sorry for the firestorm owners but I really can’t stand its performance.

As for the Jato, stock car but tuned properly, I raced a Mugen Seiki Buggy with a 28 RB Stage engine. I guess you all know how vicious that thing is.

Anyways, he jumped in the start but by the end of the line, the Jato was smoking him. I passed him in the middle of the 100 Meter race.

The firestorm is a nice steady ST but is underpowered and cheap components only when compared to a Jato 3.3

Never compare a Jato with a Truck and especially off-road if you are using anacondas, I would probably run faster.

Check it out with dirt tires.

Out of all the cars I own, the Jato is my favorite. Amazing ST.

Show vids to prove you owned both... anyone can say they own both just to say they love their Jato bedcause its sooo fast... any 2 speed will beat a single speed any day but put them on a st track and the firestorm will come up the winner...

Well if you have noticed my post, I have sold it. I will try and meet the guy I sold it to this coming Friday and race. I will post a vid once I do that to prove what I am saying.

If you have also looked at my profile, this is not my first or only car, I currently own what's listed and have owned lots before and due to the vast collection I have tested, I have found the Jato to be an excellent ST at all angles.

The only thing that I have not tried it at is the track. Will do soon and keep you posted.

End of story, if you try both, you will know what I am talking about. I don’t own Traxxas or get comitions from them and as a matter of fact, I don’t really like them but this product is exceptional

Regards,
