Unless you already have the items in the package deal, glow plug lighter, fuel, batteries, ez start battery charger you will need the package deal.
I still to this day think the whole ready to run thing is a bit of a con, you still have to buy glow plug lighter, easy start charger etc and fuel before it's ready to run!
Ok, fuel i can understand due to the legalities of shipping fuel but the other stuff should come with the kit if it's ready to run.
Have a look around at different retailers, in the UK the price of cars can change from place to place, and if you go to your LHS they may do you a better deal. When I got my Rush Evo the shop I got it from was £20 cheaper than anywhere else local, and through in all the kit I needed for another £10 so I was quids in.

Go through as many online sites as you can find, I can't recomend any as your in the US, but I'm sure someone will tell you a few.
Try ebay as well, although if your new to RC i'd avoid secondhand trucks simply because you wont know what they have been through, and if it doesn't work when you get it the seller may try and lie to you saying your doing something wrong to avoid getting caught. I am not saying everyone on ebay scams people, but there are enough of them about to make it a bit dodgy till you know what your doing!
What are you going to use the truck for? Bashing, racing, road or dirt? there are some really knowledgable people on this site and they will all recomend something different, but if they know what your going to be using it for they should be abel to point you in the right direction.

I got my nitro rustler from hobby tron and got the package deal it came with every thing even fuel that came by ground a couple of days later so I would deff do a package deal again its worth it I think I was going to get the sport but went for the rustler because it was faster and had more hop ups and was only a little more money.

Ok so no you will not be able to buy the truck its self, but that package deal "unless if i missed it" is missing one key item, which is the Glowplug igniter. Make sure first and formost you get that.
But my best recomendation is go to a lhs "Local Hobby Shop" and talk with them, cause you will need batts for car/radio/ and the ez start. I would reccomend the Traxxas fuel being Traxxas's warranty is kind of dumb and won't cover certain things if you don't use that fuel. After all of that make sure you get atleast one extra glow plug, sometimes they go out after break-in and like you said your mother has to drive you so you may not be able to get there right when this happens.

The easy start is the glow igniter and the starter you don't need any thing else it comes with the truck radio fuel easy start batts charger all you have to do is charge the batt for the easy start You dont need to by any thing extra when you get the package deal
