I am new to this whole thing, so i dont have much knowledge on the cars. my cusin has a gt2 and he loves it, but i cant decide which one to get, the gt2 or the xxx-nt. i know i want a rtr. i would like one that i could have fun with but would like to hang with him in a race if needed. with your vote please tell me why. i am looking for reasons of, ease to work on, initial problems, part breakage, cost of parts, and anything else i should know about

Haven't had one to demo at my shop yet but I would go with the GT2 just from the looks of it and what was told to me. Its a ground up car that has had the weight redistributed and some good suspension changes that should be a winner from the get go. Oh and I just got to play with one yesterday at the LA expo, I say this and they didn't even have the best looking girls at the show

I love my gt2 so far I've had it about 3 weeks and have yet to have any of the problems I see posted about other trucks. The JATO IS REALLY quick, but I as a new driver have to much power in my gt2 as is and i still have the restrictor in my carb which I hear makes a decent differance.
When we were shopping i looked at the gt2 and JATO mainly since the guy at my LHS recomended either as a good truck. 3 weeks later I'm so glad I got the gt2. As far as quality I've been very happy and the only complaint so far is that every part I've broken is backordered and I had to hunt them down online, but it seems like there is parts shipping now and my LHS even had a sub chassis for me.
Now I have only run into 2 other RC folk while out bashin one with a JATO and one with some street car that was insane fast, but electric. The guy with the Jato was only slightly more experianced then me but he had alot more driving time, I beat him around my cones on asphalt only because he lost it comming out of every turn either to a wheelie or a spin-out.
It's also worth saying that the truck has taken many mutiple flips, one head on landing into the back of a 6foot hard packed double and a half barrel roll then like a 20ft slide on its top with no body and the only times its had a part break were the 2 head on curb hits both over 20MPH both less then $20 to fix (not counting shipping! grrrrr i hate buying online)
oh yeah we got our kit at the LHS for 299 we also got gas, a temp gun, batteries and a couple glow plugs for backups for a grand totall of 380 something the jato kit i think was 400 dont remeber if that was an RTR though or kit sorry....ramble /off

XXX-NT is the way to go, it will hang with him and depending on the drivers will beat him(the driver plays a big roll in who wins and who looses)
The Jato will pass him in straight line speed, but take it to a track and you will get spanked. The firestorm isnt to much of a racer on the track and will fall behind. The GT2 is very similar to the xxx-nt, take the bare chassis and line them up and the screw holes match up almost exactly, and they look very similar. Personally I think that Team Associated had a XXX-NT sitting in front of them while they where designing the GT2. So that means Team Losi must be doing something right, and it's different then the GT2 so you guys wont have the same thing. Having the same thing as someone else isnt always the best thing, plus it can get boring. But if you do get a GT2 at least you will know that you can hang with him. But the xxx-nt has a much better radio then the GT2 does.
You guys can have a little Chevy vs Ford type thing if you buy a xxx-nt2, but there both good trucks though (meaning the XXX-NT2 and the GT2) so either one is good to have.

Since you might race then stick with either the RC10 or the Losi XXX, forget about the others especially a Jato that someone mentioned. If just bashing, it probably doesn't matter.
