it depends. the 3.3 is fast ive been around 3.3 and 2.5 jatos and i must say that they hanle real bad. also wheelie too much. only good for drag. so if drag is ur sport don't get one anyways, get a 4-tech 3.3-its faster and handles better

Just answer these questions ....
1 Do you like to go fast ?
2 Do you like wheelies ?
3 Are you willing to buy a set of OFF ROAD tires so you can drive it in the dirt ? (the stock tires will not work off road)
If you answered yes to these questions then get the JATO .
I personally love mine , its the most exciting car I have in my collection , and with the right setup it WILL handle great off road .
You will need to work on throttle control though cause you just cant mash the throttle all the time or you will have the front wheels up in the air all the time ......

Is there alot of parts like gearing and what not that will help keep the frontend down and what do you think of its handling?

i hate wheelies and speed aint everything cause it wont win the races. plus my rc10b4 with a mamba max 7700 on 8cell nimh or 9.9 a123 lipo cells would whoop any jato. im as fast as a properly tuned jato 3.3 with more excell[>:] and with my properly tuned stealth tranny i can get the power with few to no whellies hey but if nitros your thing and the above is what u like then go for it. i think rpm and gpm make parts for them. i know traxxas has some updrades.

that would be a nue brushless that hit a 134 world record and a 168 unnoficial record. so are u going to stick with the 3.3 or change the engine to a more controllable one like a 2.5

nah dont get the 2.5 jato i wooped that guy with my evader with the 5800 SS novak. if you mind is set on a jato get the 3.3, just get a wheelie bar and better tires if you plan on taking it on dirt. i would also see if they have sway bars or stiffer springs for them cuz they dont handle very well stock off the bock but out of the box they are FAST, BUT THATS ABOUT IT.

For going fast in a straigt line a Jato is very cool...you can make it handle good too if you do the right up-grade`s..I have 3 and all are great fast fun truck`s...if you want to go real fast get a 4-tec...fastest RTR on the market ...! IMO

Is there any buggy, ST, Truggy, Etc. that is as fast as a jato but in the same price range? It has to be able to go on and a little off road. Maybe some small jumps. I cant get a car becuasse i dont have smooth enough surface to run on. So any ideas????
Thanks

The Jato`s great for on and off road condition`s ! If your looking for a less expensive truck the Rustler`s good for a what you may want to do...! Both are made by Traxxas...alot of part`s available and pretty tuff ! Shop Tower you`ll find want you want..!
Good luck

Depend`s on what you doing...? on-road ? Off road ? Drag race ? I have all my Jato`s set-up for different condition`s. As far as up-grade`s it`s end-less...the main thing is suspension ,tire`s , gearing , clutch set-up...blah blah blah ! Bottom line is the Jato`s are as I`ve found out are great all around fast fun and cheap ride`s.

Ill probably change the engine and do some suspension work for a dual purpose on and off road. I just hope its still at the shop.

I drive mainly on road but the road is not smooth enough for a car. There is dips and you know the cement drainage thing they put in the middle of some roads? We have those to. I am just manily looking for something that is fast and can handle maybe some jumps (nothing huge) and go off road once in a while. Also not overly expesive the jato is aroudn the most i would like to spend.

the best handling cars if u notice have a more spread out suspenion those sre to inside and linear. also i never seen a jato out perform a gt2,inferno st and the like. id rather get a rustler and make it fast
