Hi guys,
I have managed to pick up a nitro rustler for my g/friend to keep her at bay over all my other, bigger nitro rcs.... I have found that it is a bit fast for her lol but its cheap and amusing to watch the lack of control and reminds me of myself when i first started hehehe. Anyway, she is set on keeping it rather than moving to something else so i am trying to get some parts. I have surprised myself in having really enjoyed using the truck and was surpried at its potential for speed, compared to the bigger block engines I have.
My question is about the idler gear (apparently weak) and the stub axles.....what have u guys upgraded them with?
I was just driving around the garden and the torque of the engine ripped the stub axle apart lol . And this truck is gonna eventually get a bigger engine than the already impressive traxxas 2.5 in there soooo....
Thanks for reading!
Nil.

I've done over $1000 in upgrades to my rustler. By far the best upgrade I did was the Aluminum Extended A-Arms. They widen the truck by 1/2 an inch and this made a world of difference in the handling and stability of the truck. Before with the 3.3 engine the truck was completely unstable, now its handling better then I ever thought it would. After this upgrade my next favorite has to be the high torque metal geared steering servo. This combined with an aluminum bellcrank set improved the steering/handling of the truck tremendously. Outside of this you should just see what you break the most and repair/upgrade as you go.

get rid of that pile of junk engine. Get a quality radio, better servos, hardware, tires, wheels, shocks, RPM suspension arms and a decent exhaust system.

I can see my engineering side coming out m8! On another note i just managed to get another new stock rusty for 50 quid, which is not bad here in the uk ...screwdriver and spare parts here i come.....thing is i bet i end up upgrading parts (i.e. everything) for her so the other stock truck will be pretty useless. Doh.
