RE: .18 TZ in a rustler
from what I've read in this forums it would just be too much power... Seems the TZ is meant for heavy 4wd vehicles like the revo. I have an OS CVRX in a 4wd 1/10 stadium truck and its still very powerful. If you get the TZ you may risk tranny destruction... or incontrollable power

The TZ is about equal to a 3.3 which I run in my ruslter. The transmission will hold up fine as long as you keep the slipper adjusted properly. The only weak link you might have to replace is the stock plastic output yokes on the rustler, upgrade those to the steel ones and you will be fine.

RE: .18 TZ in a rustler
I think the TM is the one that is a direct drop in but the TZ requires some slight modifications. Dont quote me on this though as I might have them backwards. They are basically the same engine, just one is a newer version of the other. I'm 90% sure that this is right though, TM is the older one that is a direct drop in for a traxxas 2.5 or 3.3 replacement, and the TZ is the newer version that required a slight modification to make it fit properly.

Just double checked and I was correct. The TM is a direct replacement and the EZ start will fit it. The TZ needs some minor modifications and I dont beleive the EZ start will fit.
