RE: the new mt2
I am talking about the engine not the truck! Yes the Firestorm is 2-wheel drive and the MT is 4-wheel drive but the Firestorm and the 3.0 MT have the SAME engine! Other then the engine there is not much difference if any between the MT2 and the MT2 3.0.

I agree with 46u , not much new here . Though I am a fan of the RS4 series and think they are decent bashers that handle great when set up correctly . Now if they put a 2 speed tranny in them (that you could run off road) I would buy one tomorrow .

RE: the new mt2
hey did the old mt2 18SS was supposed to do 46mph out of the box. According the 18SS box that im looking at right now the new mt2 3.0 seems to be a downgrade only doing 45mph

RE: the new mt2
I don't get it..... The new 3.0 engine has 2.2hp, pretty much the same HP as the .18 TZ, why does it only go 45MPH?????
With the T-15 stock engine, a Motor Saver air filter, 15T clutch bell, played around width the length of the exhaust, I got my MT2 up to 46mph.
For what I understand the .18TZ is a killer engine, so why wouldn't this new HPI 3.0 engine be the same.
Something sure doesn't make any sense.

It may be that this 3.0 turns a lower RPM.
So the same gearing would go slower.
But it would probably have more torque.
The 2 speed is an easy addition (I know, I have 2 speed in both of mine).
I used a 2 speed from an RS4, and it went right in.
I don't know why they wouldn't put it in from the factory, unless they are just looking for a mini stump puller (ok, really big twig puller).

RE: the new mt2
Guys get real and do not take much stock in published specifications on engines as they are nothing but a bunch of mathematical figures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [X(]All these RPM and HP figures are a sales pitch! This is way some engine manufactures do not list RPM or HP! All so do not believe what is printed on the box as far a MPH! Anything just about has to be better then the HPI 18SS as it had many problems mainly running hot! From what I have read from Firestorm owners the 3.0 is a better engine.

The reason they do not put a 2 speed in the MT is because you do not have a slipper clutch and is rough on the drive train when running off road and doing jumps!
