Default Race Engine for RC10GT2

Hey all! I'm trying to pick a race engine for my GT2 and I'm looking for some extra opinions. Right now I'm leaning toward an RB Concepts V12 engine, either the 01700-000430 3-port Turbo SG Crank version or the new 01700-000515RC 5-port Rody Tuned Turbo SG Crank version. So first of all, is this engine any good? Also, are 5-port engines race legal and what benefit do they provide?

no they are not legal only 3-ports are aloud if you get the rb v12 then you will need to get a rotary carb
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMXZ9&P=0 this motor will work probably just as good

I do not know near as much about small blocks as I do big blocks but when you get a chance go here and check out some of the 12 engines.
http://www.stsmicroengines.com/
They all so have a help forum where they can answer your questions about them. I have 4 big blocks STS and like them a lot and the price is good as well. I am an all out racer and do VERY little bashing. I run some fairly big series and will be running bigger ones next year.

Cool, I'll check out the STS engines, although I recall hearing something about the RB V12 being extremely fast...

The [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/1_23_30/products_id/12989]RB V12 [/link] is legal and I ran it last year when I had my stadium truck. It out ran my brothers truck, OS .12 tz eb mod engine. Its simply the best small block out there. If the pocket book allows, pick it up, you wont regret it.
The 5 port V12 is the one not legal. Any 3 port is legal and any .15 engine that comes in a rtr kit is also legal.

there is a difference between having it and hearing they are to different things so I think you shouldnt suggest it is good unless you own one
just my 2 cents
I ran a team orion wasp not the rev but the version before that and it absolutely flys it is more of a top end motor so dont expect it to do wonders on short tight track

I run the ST12R, and it's borderline too much for my XXXNT AD2

I mention that engine because one of the AE team factory driver is using it in the top races around the country so.. even If I don't have personal experience with the engine, Im sure that reason alone can tell you that the mill is a very good candidate...

Ok I've got it narrowed down to either

An RB Concepts 3-Port V12 Turbo (RBC1700-000430)

Or a Trinity .12 Off-road Draked Platnium (TRI40009)

Any final comments? I'm leaning toward the RB V12 since it has a bit higher RPM.

I have a platinum. I'd love to be able to start it, but my starterbox doesn't like me. I'm going to my LHS tommorow or monday to see if they can help, and if you want after that I'll give you some feedback.

Did you try preheating the engine with a heat gun?

yeah, you might want to try to run the starter box until it reaches full rpm, and then push your car down, that usually works, since its getting a lot of torque and grip on the flywheel.

All that method has ever done for me is tear up my starter wheel. I preheat most of my engines to 150-200 to break em in.

Sure, some feedback on the Trinity would be great! I'm a little skepticle about buying an engine I've never even heard of.... Then again, RB isn't mentioned a whole lot either, and they make some of the beast engines around!
