anything with at least 20% nitro. Sidewinder fuel is real good because you dont have to use after run oil. It already has a moisture inhibiter. I use 20% nitro with 16% oil.

20% nitro with no more then 12% oil content. Run a gallon of Sidewinder take the engine apart and look at it then run a gallon of O’Donnell RACE or Byron RACE and take your engine apart and look at it!!!!! I will never run Sidewinder again. From experience I know what happens with high oil content fuels but for those that need to see it in print read these!

46,

Those are good articles. Although I have used sidewinder fuels for years and have had no ill effects. I have an old os 15 motor in my rs4 racer. I have about 5 gal of sidewinder fuel with 15% oil mix. Just about a month ago I took it apart to check things out and it still looked great. I never had a problem tuning it or starting it but now with the new Jato I may have to rethink that. The 3.3 revs at a much higher rate and if the extra oil hurts it in the long run i will switch. I am a certified mechanic so I do know a little bit about lubrication although nitro is in a different world. It does make sense on what they say on oil content. I may have to change my oil percentages but will still run 20% nitro. I need to get fuel this weekend so I will try a 8-12%oil 20% nitro mix.

I take an engine apart after running Sidewinder there is a brown build up all in the engine and a build up on the piston top. Now when I run O’Donnell or Byron the inside of the engines even after 8 gallons looks all most new. Yes I get some build up on top of the piston with O’Donnell or Byron but near as much as Sidewinder. But if you are happy with Sidewinder run it.

If you where to put high oil content fuel in my engine in about 2 seconds I can tell. You will not get near the performance out of high oil content fuels, as you will with 12%. Now you are going to say the engines will not last longer. I know better as I have engines with 8 gallons or more on them still running great. The reason I agree with the articles is because I experienced everything they say. But run what ever makes you feel best.

I am not certified but I have been a motorcycle mechanic and machinist for over 35 years. [8D]

I never said I would not switch and I do under stand what they are saying and agree on most of what they say. All I said is that I have and older os15 that has always run sidewinder fuel and it still looks good although when I sent my Picco 21 Max back to OFNA I did notice the brown buildup so you may have a point. Anyways I am going to try a lower oil content to see what happens. I mean what the heck its just a motor. Whats the worst that can happen. I blow it up. Big deal that just means I get to upgrade.J/K I am going to give it a try.

I ran Sidewinder worlds with 11% oil content and got the brown build up. I do not think it is the amount of oil but the oil they use. I have all so found fuels with high amounts of coloring has a factor on build up. If you look at O’Donnell it is clear and Byron is light yellow. Now some say they build up is a protective coating. Well if I am getting 8 plus gallons of run time on my engines with out the build up I am happy and that is what I get with O’Donnell and Byron. Yes with

Because it is a high oil content fuel and if you read the links I posted above you will see why I will not run a high oil content fuel as I have experienced everything they talk about in the above links.
