Default Clutch?

Hey, im not really into gas trucks, but i need a truck engine for my hpi rs4, and i found one that drops right in but has a short shaft. Now i dont know which clutch i can use for it, but im guessing gas trucks need the clutch and gear in a shorter package, so what kind of clutch and clutch bell can i use for a short shaft?

you could try the NTC3 clutch nut to turn the short threaded shaft to an SG shaft. Then just use the stock RS4 clutch, assuming its a centrifugal shoe clutch

You can buy just the clutch shaft for your motor it fits any engine and ever car can buy a different shaft. I've used an hpi vx -18 motor on an rc10gt just needed to change the shaft. That motor was in an rs4-3 so you should just be able to buy the correct shaft for your car unscrew the old shaft off the flywheel and put the new one on.

If you've got the short threaded shaft, theres absolutely no need to purchase a new crankshaft, unless you want a full one-piece shaft.

All you need, like I said above is the NTC3 clutch nut: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXBMD5&P=7

the rs4 has a double wide clutch "http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXM729&P=7" with two sets of teeth on it so im not sure how the ntc3 clutch nut will work. What i meant was the pilot shaft.

Since you have a short threaded shaft, the NTC3 clutch nut works as an extension. It makes the shaft longer (make sure to threadlock it when installing), and also turns your 'short threaded shaft' to an 'SG shaft'. the SG shaft is more commonly used in ST, so you'll have an easier time finding flywheels and clutch bells to work.

$5 for the NTC3 clutch nut or $30 or more for a whole crankshaft?

lol, flywheel shim and the brass conical spacer first, then flywheel. Put the clutch nut on, stick your clutch shoes on, install the springs, bearing, clutch bell, bearing, shims, and then just threadlock the screw to the end of the clutch nut.
